My best guess is inefficiency. Think of your house as an energy star compliant refrigerator, and your RV as a dorm refrigerator on steroids. Ever notice how they never put an energy star rating or cost per year to run one of those? HUGE energy draws!

could mean hydraulic fluid as well if it uses it for the slides, leveling, landing gear, etc.
my bro-in-law uses hydro fluid in his 5'er (no FR) for his slides, leveling, landing gear.

He may mean that. Maybe he'll post back with more information.

it's like saying, if it wasn't for that horse, I'd be. . . .

Rather than use some regional or personal terminology, using the actual word will probably get you more and better help. It’s a simple yet effective was to communicate. I’m sure you Canadians know the words electricity, water, and sewer.

OP is Canadian (Hamilton, Ontario). Up here, "hydro" means electrical power. As ShermanD noted, the slang term comes from hydroelectric power generation. Our publicly-owned power generation companies often have "hydro" in their name (e.g. "Ontario Hydro", "Hydro Quebec"). Of course in Ontario these days we get a lot of our "hydro" from nuclear generation and they renamed the power company as "Ontario Power Generation (OPG)", but Quebec still gets most of their power from hydroelectric.

When paying for hydro separately campgrounds charge a way higher rate than your stick and brick utility provider does.

Then what is a cool cat? Or a camper? A camper in Canadian means a canvas tent trailer. Up here RV means trailer or fifth wheel. RV Means Motorhome home in the in the US but up here it is a Motorhome. A Prevost is a coach.

Regional differences make the world a better place.

So I do take offence to your statement that we do not know what we are saying. Just saying...

I paid double the kWh charge for hydro this season. In reality it is nuclear generated where I live. Electric or power from the power and light company.

Thank you Bob. The comments about Canadians being unable to communicate was not nice.

Ontario has the highest rates in all of North America. At our RV park where we have our park model is the cost is 22 cents or kWh They change a flats rate $5 meter rate fee and $10 delivery charge. Basically a lot more than what it costs But they pay for the 6 months the park is closed for delivery charge .

Just a suggestion to use common terms hydro in most of the US means water for drinking or playing. Electricity is electric made by numerous sources here gas, coal, nuclear, and yes some is hydroelectric.
