We normally camp at the state parks here in Louisiana and as I recall all of them pick the garbage up every morning and sometimes the park hosts will also pick up

The only thing that still perplexes me is that for a four night w/e, this wasn't a practice daily, only on departure. If the folks that started this, and those that joined in, thought it was normal, why didn't they try that on day 1 or 2 or 3?

This is the first I've seen here or anywhere I've camped where people pull out and leave their bagged garbage on the site.

In 20 some yrs, I've been to several dozen campgrounds that did this. Usually there was a time, say "before 11am" and at 11am they'd drive around and pick up all the garbage. As pointed out above, many KOA's do this. I don't do it unless they specifically tell me to. Since so many did it, I'm suspecting they were told and you missed it.
Actually, I'm more surprised that YOU'RE surprised.

I have been to a KOA where they have pick up and at Friendship Village Campground in Bedford Pa they give you trash bags at check in and tell you to set it out by 10:00 each morning. These are the only ones that I have been to that have pick up. Usually at check in they will tell you if they have pick up or they will tell you where the dumpsters are.

Why don't you head up to the office and find out for us all? If you're currently there. Enquiring minds would like to know!
