I thought I was losing my MIND!
After 3 years I decided it was time to pop open the access door to my Roo's furnace for some general cleaning, vacuuming etc. No big deal since the door is hinged on the top, just undo the latch at the bottom and swing it open. Oh wait a minute, it looks like the door is hinged at the bottom so that must be a latch at the top. Uhhhhhh, no that looks like a hinge on top! Wait, what am I missing here? Pull on the top, pull on the bottom, aaarrrrrggghhh what am I missing??!!! WHAT??...BOTH SIDES ARE HINGED??? WHAT KIND OF IDIOT THOUGHT OF THAT??? WHY WOULD YOU HINGE OPPOSITE ENDS OF A DOOR???

FR does it a lot, it's limited access and much cheaper and faster than a knob and a door catch.

Then why use hinges at all? Just put some screws in it. They're just messin with us. Probably sitting around on break laughing about it.

I guess I'm confused. You literally have to take the hinges off one side or the other to get the cover off?

Yep.......Mine has the sub-woofer behind it.....when you open it, there's a right nice breeze blow'n in, so I covered the inside with a thin piece of lexan....no draft now!

Keeps kids out but hinges provide a visual that the door can be opened for access if necessary.

Maybe the hinges on both sides give you a choice which way to open it???

How does the Furnace get its return air if you put plexiglass over the opening? Or the bass get out if it is a sub without vibrating.

Come on guys everyone knows why they used hinges on top and bottom! The bottom is for right handed people and the top is for left handed people!! 😉👍🏻

I was thinking about Chevy Chase on National Lampoon's Vacation when he ripped the license plate off looking for the gas cap.

It's for guys like us that will pick up a screwdriver and use it. Or maybe that's where the secret tomb really is... It makes me want to open it just to take a look.

I'd like to have one of those hinges. The former owner of my windjammer took the one off the door where the water filter and pump is and put a catch for easier access, which is great, but the exposed holes look awful.
