Inspect your power panel

Just food for thought for all RV models. This is a 2017 Shockwave. I found this when I was pulling the power center to run wiring for MaxxAir fans. You can see the screw is not screwed in at all. Plus the wire!

Yes. I did some mods to add an inverter and found similar issues.

The neutral bus bar had several loose wires.

Very interesting! You are going to force me to go look at our Shockwave wiring for sure!

We were getting noise out of the power panel last week like a fan running with a bad bearing, got to check that out too.

Thanks for posting.

Jack,
You'll want to vacuum the area behind the power center. Mine had lots of sawdust and small wood pieces that could get sucked into the fan. On the plus side, all my ground buss terminals were tight.

Mine came from factory with a couple of wires not fully stripped and thus not making good connections.

sloppy workmanship

I was an electrician for 42 years. It only takes a few seconds more to make a connection correctly. Its all about making money.

Not sure how sloppy work "makes them money" but I agree the photos are scary. I found less than stellar connections in a previous Rockwood. My current rig seems to have been wired by someone who was proud of their work.
Tight connections and wires zip tied in fairly neat bundles, correctly labeled.

I found a number of not quite tightened screws in the power panel of my 2011 Georgetown. It only took a few minutes to fix. I suspect that this cold be an issue on any manufacturer's rv.

We had a hot wire for our electric brake break away switch that was run improperly run out of junction box in front, rubbed insulation and shorted while hooked up to TV. Luckily we were backing in at home after a trip not in middle of one. Thought there was a fire under the propane tanks. Luckily we have a good dealer and the got us in next day as repaired while we waited.

Paying piece work = sloppy work unless some QC is in place. It is absolutely disgusting to think they can't make sure the electrical is right. We are talking not only potential massive property damage but loss of life also. How long would it take for someone to check the panel area? 10 minutes? Of course that still leaves the question of whether the wiring at the receptacles is right. There is also a procedure of "second set of eyes" where someone double checks the electrical connections. Again, a matter of a few minutes. I would gladly pay for an extra 20 or 30 minutes of labor to ensure I wasn't going to be in a fire.

On the 2 A-frames I bought new, I found the screws were tightened with maximum torque settings on their battery screw drivers. Almost impossible to bust loose!

OTOH, no bus bars used on the DC side - all done with multiple wire "nuts" in series to connect all the ground wires. These were clear crimp on wire nuts where - in some cases - maybe 2 or 3 strands of the wires touched inside the wire "nut". Ended up redoing the ground (negative) side with bus bars when I replaced the converter. Added a small bus bar for the positive side of the one "everything else" DC circuit. The bus bars did a lot to clean up the rat's nest behind the converter.
