INSURANCE QUESTION! Help!
Do to the storm here in Texas my Rockwood suffered water damage to the floors, walls, ceiling and more. My question is how do I use this money to my advance and pay this camper off? I received half of what I still owe on the camper and do to work and having money in other things I do not use it at all anymore and would like to free up that money for other things. Do I put the insurance money towards the note and try and sell it for what I still owe? Fix the camper with the money then sell it? Any and all comments are appreciated! Thanks.

With that much water damage they didn't total it? Did a repair facility give the estimate for repairs.

Not seeing the damage it is hard to say but if that much is damaged I would request a re-appraisal and/or get an independent appraisal from a repair shop. With the described water damage it will be almost impossible to sell except as a "hunter's shack". Most trailers with that type of damage are totaled.

A guy who came out to inspect was a contract guy for Geico. Insurance said 2400 for parts and 5300 for labor. I just got the quote in yesterday and still have to get it to a repair shop

Take it to a shop and get an estimate. The shop estimate should total it. If this is higher than the insurance estimate you can disputed it.

Just a thought here but is there any chance you owe more on camper that it’s worth. With all the water damage I don’t think the camper will ever be any good, mold comes to mind

Not sure of Texas but it might also have its title branded as a flood vehicle and unless the person pays cash they will not get a loan for sure.

If I put the insurance money towards the not I'll have a few thousand left to pay off. Before the storm the camper was worth more than I owed so I was good there.

Throwing something out here....if you have a loan normally this will be paid to the repair facility and you. Therefore you might be forced to repair. Just a thought.

Are you talking about where the insurance company will send the repair money?

I would pay off the camper and then try to sell it or just take a small loss. The camper I have now I owe more than it’s worth, I’m upside down. I have it insured for enough to hopefully pay off camper.

Depending on you or your relationship with the insurance company. They may make the check to you and the repair shop to help insure you get it repaired since it has a loan on it. Seen it happen both ways.

If it has a lien it may also have the lien-holder on it
