Let's hope that manhole cover is for sewer only!
Many manhole covers (especially in residential areas with cul-de-sacs) are for utility access, (electric, cable, fiber optics) fresh water pipe access and the like.

I would caution anyone taking this advice to be absolutely certain what the manhole cover is intended for before you open and dump.

Where do you think yours goes?

I'm putting the same stuff into my manhole as you put in your toilet, and they both go to the same place in the end. Mine is just a more direct route.

Our manholes have cast-in lettering that says SEWER, so there is no chance of mistake. It also has a small vent hole in the top, so there really is no chance of a mistake.

I think that's a storm sewer. Sewer lines don't have manhole covers do they? Don't think sewer lines are "open" like that. I could be wrong but I've never seen a manhole that leads directly into a sewer line.

They are still open but I am surprised they haven't been closed yet. Used it 2 weeks ago just outside of Vancouver, WA. I finished and pulled forward to get out of another guys way and he pulled up, proper the cover open with a rock and then just let it fly! I made a comment to him about how disgusting that is for everyone after him and the fine gentlemen let me know how it was none of my fking business.

But then karma struck as a WSP Tropper pulled up behind him. I laughed all the way home....
