Yup. There are STORM SEWERS and thereare SANITARY SEWERS. I'm quite certain that there are no accessible openings to a sanitary sewer line in the US/Canada. Some third world countries, certainly. Please reconsider your dumping site or confirm sewer type with local authorities.

Not sure I saw anyone else say this in the list, but RV Dealerships have them sometimes. Looked at the "RV Dump Site" list from above, and our local dealership was in there listed. So, keep an eye out for a bunch of brand new campers, and squat there.

Don't Worry, be Happy

I'm a civil engineer, and I worked for the City of Albuquerque Public works department in college. Yes, that is in New Mexico, and yes that is a state, and no, I don't use blue meth. One of my first jobs was to clean sewer lines. We opened the manholes, ran a water powered jet through to the next manhole, and pulled back a cable with a small bucket which cleaned sand and other debris out of the line. We have both sanitary and storm sewers here, and believe me. I know the difference. Very easy to confirm, just have DW flush the toilet, and watch the toilet paper flow through the bottom of the manhole. I've also designed sewer systems, and manholes are put between straight sections of pipe to allow cleaning. Manhole is almost a misnomer, since no one goes into one without a protective suit, oxygen and a tripod with pulleys so the
guy on top can pull you out when you collapse from breathing methane instead of oxygen.
As foolish kids, we explored the storm sewer system in Albuquerque. We stopped after our torches went out from lack of oxygen. We were lucky.

Thanx for the correction. Dump responsibly.

Also, some (all, many?) Camping World stores have dump facilities.

My town has one in the middle of town. They don't advertise it though.

Ted
The sanitary sewer lines in my area have manhole covers at regular intervals. Also in my previous town.

Thanks for the tip/awhitlow200 was camping in sisters yard in Clinton, MS. Used the same rv dump you mentioned. Sewer dump was open no water, probably for freeze protection. thankful I carry a few gallons of water in the fresh tank, so was able to dump and flush out as well.

Bob, if you had read the previous post that I had quoted, it was about California's I5 rest stops, NOT Washington's or Oregon's.
I know that a number of Washington's rest stops still have open dump stations.
We have one just south of us, in Arlington, that we use before we get home.

Glenn,I see it "All the Time" RVers pulling into a Cul de Sac and taking out the Man Hole removal tool then the Sewer hose to "Dump"! Then they take out 100+' of garden hose to walk over to Someones House and hook up to City water so they can use the BTR! Some City's make them place "Orange Cones" around the TV & RV while they are going through the "Dumping Dance"! They should be Thoughtful to NOT block any Driveways while Dumping also! Youroo!!
