I fueled my 2015 Silverado 2500 6.0l gasser yesterday with E85 like I have for two years. $1.11 per gallon. I average 10 mpg on the stuff, which equates to 11 cents a mile right now.

I just filled my semi truck tonight with diesel for $2.89. Now if I had a diesel pickup, it would have to average over 26 mpg just to break even with my 3/4 ton cost per mile on E85. I have never seen a 3/4 ton diesel truck “average” 26 mpg.

I agree that is why I traded my diesel for a gasser this year. Between the extra cost of Diesel engines upfront then cost of fuel and cost of maintenance I also, think I am coming out ahead.

So I suppose the general answer for most of us is yes, Diesel will and has been coming down!

I just returned home. Made a quick trip check on our Eastern WA property. We received a bill for electricity 3 X normal. I swear I shut the living room fireplace off before I left last time! It is off now!

Wow, 18-20 degrees. The bedroom fireplace, along with the mattress pad heater, struggled to keep me from being an icicle.

—- on topic —-
Regular gas ranged from $3.09 to 3.69 which is about thirty cents below this summer’s prices. There was one outlier, a rural co-op had $1.99 which is the first time I have seen it that low in over a year.

Diesel - $3.39 to 3.99 which tracks with what I have seen for over a year both here in Western WA and in AZ.

Even with diesel higher than gas, the performance bang-buck is worth it

You just can't tow gas like you can diesel. 20% premium is not bad. if they get up there ar 40% + premium, then things are different.

btw. Saw a post by a trucker where big outfits negotiate pricing with suppliers and truckers are paying for diesel at well over a $1 discount per gallon pumped. Anyone ever thought of grouping together to drive discounts?

Has here and everywhere I have driven, so thats good for me anyway! We have gas in the 2.25-2.35 range now.. Diesel in the 2.88-2.99 range.

My Poor son goes through about 60 bucks in diesel a day between his truck and welder and works 7 days a week.. 5-7 cents a gallon one way or the other makes a impact on him. Glad to see it coming down for him!

Got it for $2.77 this morning. Some stations are still holding strong to $3.15/gal, but most are dropping now. Still not close to what I was paying last winter, but it's getting a little better.

Thought I'd refresh and bring this thread into the new year

Diesel price at Murphys (Walmart) at Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi) Texas was $2.599
four hours ago.
