It pays to shop around too.

Around us at Costco you can purchase Diesel for $2.93/gal. But at a gas station 2 blocks away it's $3.39/gal.

There is a brand new Walmart that popped up a couple of miles from my house. There is an old School gas station next door (sits basically in the same parcel land as the Wal-Mart station). Diesel at the Walmart station is $2.94 /gal and next door it's $3.19!

The only reason the old school gas station is probably still in business is the Walmart doesn't have good signage. You must drive up to the pump to see it.

I feel your pain, but you guys have it great for prices. Here in Southern California Gas is $3.60 a gallon and Diesel is $4.11. Sure glad we voted in another tax and spend Governor. Need to pay for the Bullet train to nowhere that no one will use. The state actually voted down a bill that would have lowered the taxes on our gas. California has a lot of stupid people.

$1.33 per litre or $3.82 USD per US gal.
Provincial fuel taxes, provincial carbon tax even though they call it a 'levy', federal fuel tax, sales tax. Wait for it -drum roll- federal carbon tax starting in January and escalating every year, tax increases on everything, $15 minimum wage. Is anybody surprised people can't make ends meet anymore.

The real problem starts if the price of crude goes back up to where it was 5 years ago, how much are we going to have to pay for fuel and everything else then. Everything we use and consume is transported by truck or rail, they have no choice but to pass on the higher cost of transportation and processing to the consumer.

Gas (reg unleaded) at the Shell station on I-8 at exit 23 was $4.89.9 per gallon.

Glad we didn't need any...

When a barrel of crude is refined a percentage of it becomes Diesel, another Gasoline, and then all the other various petroleum products.

Diesel is in high demand for heavy duty engines like construction equipment, remote site diesel powered generators, heating oil, large trucks, and then on the bottom end, private vehicles. The more diesel that is produced, the more gasoline the refiners have to get rid of. Pricing is based on supply. If they have more on hand than they want to store the price goes down.

In short, pricing is based on supply versus demand.

As for all the extra refining processes and additives required by "regulation" that just goes into the base price. From there suppy/demand dictates prices.

Back when the automobile made it's first appearance, gasoline was pretty much an unwanted byproduct of oil refining. All the refiners really wanted was the Kerosene for "Lighting" and the heavier oils for steam boilers both stationary and ships.

Diesel $2.96 locally in Missourah.

Seems like when Gas goes up, Diesel stays relatively the same.
