Exactly! If it neither picks my pockets nor breaks my bones, live and let live.

Well, my wife and I rough it....We dry camp most of the time. We have a 35ft 5th wheel with AC, furnace and most of the goodies. Sometimes we have to turn the furnace down because it gets too hot in the bedroom in October and May when we are dry camping. Instead of cooking over an open fire, like we used to, we have a portable BBQ. My wifey sometimes puts ice in my rum & coke. That doggone microwave does a lot also. Now the gensets have run the TV for us along with anything that is 110 volts. It's a son of a gun to push that remote to start or stop the genset, so I went out and got two hondas, so now I have to pull a cord or two to start them and then go outside to stop them. I don't know, it seems to be getting harder in our so called golden years to just go and camp for 10 days or so instead of a long weekend. Some times I even take the truck and go and buy a half cord of wood to burn instead of cutting standing dead trees down for the fire pit. Oh I forgot about the Sat radio. I know there are some things I have missed but I don't want anybody to feel bad for us. We quit riding the dirt bikes and the quads and now we sit around and enjoy our young grand children, learning how to rough it also. Life is grand....... sometimes I must say, it is great to see and hear the wild animals that roam around when they decide to let us see and hear them. Stay safe all and enjoy the freedom that we have to do these things because freedom isn't free.

I fondly remember the first time I ever ate sushi, 35 years ago. (We need a sarcasm font here)
I was on North Fork/Kelly Creek area in a tent with the now DW, here in Idaho.
Had some beautiful trout we had caught during a good stiff rainstorm......

The Coleman stove was too wet to light.....

I still hate sushi and I gave the kids the tent.

Most posters here seem to be either TT or fiver owners...I am just a little pop up! So I don't know if I am qualified to weigh in, but I will just the same!

I slept on the ground for 35 years. THIRTY FIVE YEARS. And that was as an adult, not counting the 10 years prior as a Girl Scout. I was done with it, but still wanted to camp. So we bought a pop up and I only see us going bigger from here!

When I posted photos of our new-to-us camper, a Facebook "friend" went on and on about how it wasn't camping, we shouldn't call it camping, blahblahblah. No amount of "I backpacked the Appalachian trail, I slept in tents for years..." would shut her up. So I unfriended her!

It's camping! Yes, it is, and I can't WAIT for Spring!!

On the eighth day, God made fire to cook fish and He said, it is good. (but watch our for bones!)

Our Coleman stove and lantern have been with us since our tenting days. IMHO nothing better better than eggs and bacon cooked outside on the Coleman stove. Just add toast made over the open fire!

You're as qualified as anyone to weigh in on this topic... since no heavy boulders will be moved by this discussion... no final consensus will be reached... very few will change their camping/RVing/"going to the lake"/"going to the woods", etc. process.

Not going is not camping! Now where did I hear that?

I started this blog post yesterday and in less than 24 hours 53 folks have commented. After reading them all, We all have one thing in common. We camp because we love it. It doesn't matter what we call it. Whether camping gives us a chance to spend time as a family (which we don't do at home) or socialize with old and new friends, it is an experience to be cherished, even if for a weekend at a time. I know that my campground opens up on April 15th, and I will be there with a cold beer and a warm fire, awaiting the arrival of my fellow seasonal friends. I once again look forward to smell of bacon cooking. What is it about an early morning walk with a cup of Joe, and the smell of smoke and bacon? It doesn't get any better than this does it? Enjoy the season my friends and be safe!

25 plus years ago, I used to say the same thing about my parents. You are not camping in a 40 foot trailer with your sewing machine and computer(way before laptops).
Wish my mom was still around so she could see i turned out like her. She was smart.
