Jekyll Island Campground

Has anybody stayed at Jekyll Island Campground? My wife wants to go that direction this summer and I have never been to the Island before. Got to keep her happy

We were there last Fall. Very relaxing. It is a nice hike to the water. Lots of native flora to view. The beach is good to walk on and walk your dog. We loved it.

Don't know the answer to this one. Not a problem in the Fall.

Last summer, we (our family of 4 and friends with their family of 4) spent 9 days at Jekyll Island Campground. It was hot, it was muggy, but it was fun. We were in G27 and G28.

It is quite a ways from the water, but we did bike down to the beach several times and even into town once. We scoured Driftwood Beach for some small pieces of driftwood, we took the truck and parked at the beach a couple of times. We found some good food, and we did a little shopping.

The only problem we had was that one evening, the power went out in the campground and, did I mention, it was hot and muggy. We hung around outside until the mosquitoes started biting, then we took all 4 kids and went for a drive. The power was out over 1/2 the island. We finally found power and the DQ and spent 30 minutes waiting in line (with others that had no power at their hotel/campground) and got us a blizzard. We got back about 11 pm and power came on soon after.

It was an a good trip, but there are many other places I enjoy as well and are right ON the beach.

It says pets are allowed on the beach year-round.

I have a really dumb question. From your link, the list states no flashlights unless turtle friendly.

What the devil is a turtle friendly flashlight??

Google it!
Basically it's a red lens or red LED flashlight. White light confuses the little guys as well as momma when she's looking to dig a nest.

Not sure how the off topic reply, got on here, but we tried to camp there last Spring and couldn't get a,spot. We drove through once before and it looks like a nice campground but with a fair number of long term campers. Try to reserve a site as early as possible.

Jekyll Island Campground is an older camp ground and I for one did not care for it. Not well maintained and sites close together and all dirt and a lot of trees. Later RJD
