Jensen Stereo AWM 970

Does anyone have the the Jensen sound system model number AWM 970 in their RV? I am thinking about installing one and wanted to get feedback regarding performance and reliability? This is the link to the Jensen unit I am interested in:

Thanks in advance

If you have the space, don't need 12 volt operation you could always buy a decent mini home theatre system for the same money ie Sony, LG,

I installed one in my Surveyor this spring. It works great. Like it a lot. Easy install. Not quite as tall and a little wider than the ZX500 Concertone that I took out. About a 90 minute install including a little cutting for the opening. I like the fact that it plays MP3 CDs. Even with the stock RV speakers, there was an instant increase in clarity. I did add Jensen 2-way speakers on the inside. They are a little deeper so bought recessed lighting trim rings to cover the hole and give me a little more clearance.

Not to my knowledge Dan. So, when we bought 2-way radios to assist backing into sites, we got radios with NOAH. Cheap $45. Good radios. Yeah, NOAH would make the Jensen perfect . . .

Have you found a good price for this unit. I've been looking at it myself.

If you go to Ebay.com and search for
jensen awm970 you will find several in the $320 range.
There are also 2 different ones at $200 BUT they both do NOT
include remote.
I'd want the remote on a DVD player. I don't know if you could use
a "universal" remote with this kind of unit or not.
I imagine you could buy a new remote from Jensen but you'd
definitely want to call and get a price on a new remote before
you purchased a unit without one.

Ebay has one New In the Box (NIB) for $270 US + $20 shipping.
Donno how much more it would cost to ship to Canada.

Also if you are trying to save a buck or several-- there
are now several different car radios that come with
remotes, and have CD, DVD, MP3 capability.
They have video out jacks and 4 channels.
I know the Jensen and the Concertone units are 5
channel surround sound but I say that a good 4 speaker
set up in a "room" as small as most travel trailers would
be plenty good enough. You can go the car radio route
for $200. Of course you will need speakers unless you
already have them installed. If you add a 12v bass
pumper under the couch you can have all the sound
you would ever need.

Good luck!

The 970 has an alarm, sleep mode, and the big thing for me, A, B, and C channels. If none of that matters to you, there are many alternatives as KyDan points out. You might have a bigger hole to fill . . . but that's not a big deal. Just about anything is better than Concertone! HA!

You are right about the Concertcrap having extra features.
Also NOAH radio which we use quite frequently not necessarily in
bad weather. Sometimes we just want the hiking forecast!
FYI, you can get stereo speaker ABC switches at Radio Shack or
most any online electronics store.
