Thumbs up Just woke up in new trailer for first time!

Well, it was a good night! The rain fell softly, making a sound like frying bacon. We are driveway camping to test all systems before our first trip to Gettysburg in a few weeks. Despite it being 37F all night, the 'chill chaser' heat strip I installed in my Coleman Mach 8 ultra low profile AC easily kept interior warm. At night, I switched over to a tiny Sharper Image ceramic heater that hangs directly from wall outlet. The lowest temp recorded indoors was 59. Snuggling up in our full size Murphy bed with our fleece sheets was very comfortable, not too warm. We are used to a Queen size bed at home, but the smaller full size bed was fine. Not a Tempurpedic, but quite comfortable, did not wake up sore or stiff at all.

Great news!! Sounds like it passed it's first test.

I put a 1500W milkhouse heater in our Avenger while I was working in it a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how well it warmed up the entire camper. Started out at 22° and when I was finished with my project it was up to 66° inside.

OH... one more thing:

Let's see this new rig!!

A little Fleece and a good bottle of Scotch will keep me warm on the coldest nights. Congrats on the trial run. Post up some pics.

Roger that, going to be nice today, will take pics. The only issue I had was condensation inside windows. I have a 30 pint dehumidifier, but with Murphy bed down, there is no place to put it! Then after my first mug of coffee, I realized I could take dinette table top off and place it on floor between the two benches, problem solved, will try this tonight. Cracking windows was not an option.
A. It was too cold, did not want to lose heat.
B. It was almost 100% humidity outside on account of rain

Humidity is always a problem for me. I usually get up in the middle of the night and put the AC on low to dehumidify the small TT. I bought one of the small electronic dehumidifiers. It works but not that well with two humans and a panting dog

Condensation is gonna happen. Little air movement can help. We'll get a little in our Cherokee...38', when it's warm and humid...rain storms. A little table top fan helps our.

I always open our vent and turn the Vortex fan on low, just to keep a little fresh air coming in. Seems to keep a check on the humidity in our Avenger.

But, if it's 100% outside also... not much you can do...

Wow! I was beginning to think we were the only ones active on this board with a Cherokee 38P Destination Trailer. Ours is a 2007/8. We are third or fourth owners.

Good luck and safe travels. I can't go back there. Last time and first time I was there was 5 years ago. It made me sick in my soul and I had to fight breaking down in tears the entire time I was there.

Me too. Only been there once. All I could think about was having the televisions on at our school and the one student who’s dad had quit the FBI and taken the position of security director of the Twin Towers three days before 9/11.

Glad to hear your shakedown in the driveway went well NJKris. I think you're gonna love the 19FD. We love our 19FBS, which is very similar to yours. We can't wait to get our's out soon!

BTW - you gotta have the best profile picture and name here!

We have visited there twice and the first time the center was not built thus the second visit, we did really well until we listened to the phone messages it was a very somber and tear jerking thing to get thru, God Bless them all.

Ours is a 2018 Cherokee..."Patriot Edition" 304BS it's around 38' in length. Not a Destination trailer. I've seen the one you're talking about....what a BEAST !!

We are planning to visit in May. I think it is a place everyone should visit, lest we forget what happened.

NJKris, glad your first night was successful. I still have to uncover and dewinterize! As for condensation, we always have a vent at least partially open. It helps quite a bit with condensation.

Smile No indoor condensation!!!!

***Humidity update! Night two was even colder outside than night one, bottoming out at 34 this morning, outdoor humidity averaged 95%. Ran dehumidifier from bedtime until just now this morning, not a drop of condensation anywhere, huge improvement! Only had to run this little ceramic heater while sleeping to keep temp in trailer from going below 60:

Camping World had it on sale, so I added it into order with some other stuff, I think I paid 18 bucks for it (then saw it on sale for 13 at my BJS wholesale club). It is 350 watts. Fan is very quiet. Have it plugged in to outlet at foot of bed, inside temp never went below 62 degrees, even while it was 34 degrees out in the morning.
