how long should you keep it charging if I remove the battery from the camper.. there are 2 settings on the charger,, 12v and 6v.. What do I use.

Not sure what your charger is. You would need 12 volt unless you are charging 6 volt batteries (separately, not in series). But the big issue is, do you have a Smart Charger? This is the kind that senses the state of charger of your battery and backs off accordingly on the amount of charge. A "dumb charger" will just keep right on charging, boil the water out of your battery, and ruin it if you keep it plugged in.

look on your battery it will say if its 6 or 12 volt . if its 12 then set charger to 12 if you have 6 volt which then you would have two batteries in series as last poster said then you would set it at 6 volt but only charge one battery at a time or leave them in series to charge.

My battery is 12 volt.. but should i disconnect it when going to florida for 2 1/2 months this winter .. i will be at a full hook up site at a rv park ??

your camping with your camper ? if so leave it hooked up your camper has an on board charger on it !

I plan to remove the battery for winter storage. Should I keep the charger on for 6 months I won't be using it?

and yes to your question remove it and leave the charger on ! it has float mode you will be fine!

12 volt setting is what you want

Just remember - even with 3 stage intelligent converters and chargers, battery minders, etc. you must check the electrolyte levels in the battery every few months. Even with the best chargers there will be a loss of electrolyte over time.

I guess mine is a super special electro light saver since my battery is sealed

Many batteries say they are "sealed", very few actually are. See if you can remove the covers over the cells.

Most sealed batteries (SLA - Sealed Lead Acid batteries) or gel batteries where the electrolyte is in a gelled state. These generally are smaller, low amp-hour low discharge rate batteries such as are used in UPS's, motorcycles, etc.

What most sealed batteries are are Valve regulated batteries.

In a valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery the hydrogen and oxygen produced in the cells largely recombine into water. Leakage is minimal, although some electrolyte still escapes if the recombination cannot keep up with gas evolution. Since VRLA batteries do not require (and make it difficult) to regularly check the electrolyte level, they have been also called maintenance free batteries. However, this is somewhat of a misnomer. VRLA cells do require maintenance. As electrolyte is lost, VRLA cells "dry-out" and lose capacity. This can be detected by taking regular internal resistance, conductance or impedance measurements. Regular testing reveals whether more involved testing and maintenance is required. Recent maintenance procedures have been developed allowing "re-hydration", often restoring significant amounts of lost capacity.

f1100turbo, I'm not saying your battery isn't sealed - I don't know what brand and model your batteries are - I'm just saying many batteries advertised and sold as "sealed" truly aren't.

No, just check the electrolyte level when you get there and then again
a month later.
Add distilled water if needed. I doubt you will need it.
