KOA Newburgh/North New York

Has anyone stayed at this KOA? I made reservations and now DW and I are trying to figure out how to get to NYC every day?

I'm thinking there has to be a train I can catch from somewhere with out having to drive the full 60 miles into town.

DW is feeling a little overwhelmed with all there is to see and do. Told her "we're not going to be able to hit it all". 🇺🇸

You can drive down to somewhere like Paramus and take the bus, NJ Transit. Allow 3 hours each way from the KOA to the city.

I live near there and go there on a regular basis. I will be there this weekend. As far as the city. They have bus tours that leave right from the campground or you can go about 10 miles (Beacon station)and catch the Metro North Train to Grand Central. Way better than driving in.

Any questions just ask.

Using the train it should be less than two hours. From KOA to grand central.

If you haven't driven to/in and around NYC, your best bet is to take the train and avoid the hassle of driving and parking.

I have stayed at that campground and it's very nice ( even have free pancakes on some mornings)
We did not use it but they have bus tours to NYC that leave right from the campground.

Only 1 1/2 hour train ride, that's pretty good. Figure 40 - 45 minutes to drive to the station, park and walk to platform and buy tickets. Learn what peak vs. off peak means. Once at Grand Central you will need to decide whether to cab it or take the subway. Allow more time for either. You will do a lot of walking. Just to get out of Grand Central is usually a lot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and have a great time. There is no place like New York City.

We have stayed there twice. Great park. Have taken the Gray Line tour to New York both times. Very enjoyable. Leaves the driving to them.

They're on the other side of the Hudson from Beacon...wouldn't driving down to Salisbury Mills and avoiding the TapanZee be a better choice for a train station?

It's not the Tappan Zee bridge between Beacon and Newburgh. The Tappan Zee is I287.

We camped there several years ago. Taking the train to New York City was fairly easy and not that far away from the campground can't remember exactly how far but it wasn't too awful bad and I believe it took us about an hour to get into the city.

Taking the train into NYC and utilizing the subway system is part of the fun. Do NOT drive into the city!
