Well, we are all set to stay at Twin Lakes in North Carolina. Gonna take the ski as well and see what happens on the pamlico sound. What's everyone else doing????

We will be leaving around the 26th of Aug. to head toward the southwestern states. We don't have a clue where we will be on Labor Day but we won't be coming back to MO until the beginning of October. We will be winging it this trip, but we do want to see the north rim of the Grand Canyon, the national parks in Utah, Monument Valley, the four corners, and a couple of churches in the Santa Fe, NM area.

I hiked North Rim to South rim once. Awesome experience. There are some awesome sites in the Sequioa National Forest if you had the time to get into California. "Lodgepole" was particularly nice, and there is even a "Twin Lakes" near Mammoth.

Unhappy They call it that for a reason

I'm going to labor.

Clean out the garage and work on the yard.

Might as well. Won't order the trailer until next April.

Our plans are currently for Myrtle Beach the week of Labor Day. With any luck no hurricanes will run us off this time.

We are headed to Myrtle Beach Thursday morning but we're not taking the fifth wheel. Instead we're staying at my sister's beach front condo free of charge. Our daughter and her husband are flying down to join us that Saturday. It's so nice to have rich relatives that are generous.

Camp with the Parents and some old friends, smoke a couple turkeys in the pit, dressing, salads, T-giving in September. Horseshoes, beer, music and lies. Been doing it for about 14 yrs and no plans on stoppin'. Even dad with his cancer scare a couple years ago wouldn't stop him from coming. I guess he figures he showed me the way for camping early on and wants to make sure I still "get it". Been camping for 32 years now ( out of 38) , I think I'm wise enough now to start a fire but ole dad still has to tell how he showed us "scouts" how to do it.
I think I'll have to thank him again this year in front of our group for "Showing me the way". I love that man! Now that I'm older it's not real hard to tell him he was right, but I hate to 'cause it goes to his head.
I can only hope my 16yr old son feels the same way when he gets older.

Aint nothing better than passing on a Grandfather's legacies. Especially the one's you describe. Made me think back to my childhood when My GP's were still alive and all the fun we had. Thanks!

Re Myrtle Beach PirateLand is my favorite. We've been going there on and off for 20 years.

One very patient wife and one furry child who travels with us. Forty-two years of trailering and camping, and I still have a blast.

I'm with Cyber Pher
Labor Day was laboring for me 8 years ago.
Gave birth to my youngest on 9-1-99

I am going on vacation Aug 16 and will be off till Sept 1
No camping plans yet, but we will celebrate her birthday.
Where I am in Michigan, we have a pretty reciently built
Cabela's and since their inhabitation we have sprung up
with a lot of hotels and a "Splash Universe" water park.
www.splashuniverse.com
We may consider that, we could even boondock in the
Cabela's parking lot for free for the night.

Camping near Lake Lure, NC. But this will be our first trip further than 5 miles from home with our new rig.

For those of you goin to Myrtle Beach, we really enjoy Ocean Lakes. But since you are goin for Labor Day, prepare to be surrounded by crotch rocket motorcycles all up and down the Myrtle area. Memorial Day and Labor Day are both Bike weeks. We went down one Labor Day weekend not realizing and found it pretty hard to do much without being crowded by the bikes. Lots of rowdy street racing attitudes and (not trying to be racist but....) Black Bike Week, as it is known, is not always the best atmosphere for family outings. Seems these people have very little respect for the ears of young children so the language can get pretty loud and raunchy. For the most part, if ya have no intentions of go outta the campground, you wont have much trouble. And most of the campgrounds there have everything you would ever need inside the gates.
Good Luck and I hope everyone has a great holiday.
