Ladder Mounted 11# Propane Tank???

So trying to figure where to put a propane tank for the bbq on a Class A.

Popular options seem to be:
- hose connection to main RV tank: don't really like this as my tank is on the wrong side and the hose distance seems limiting.....
- in a crate in an under storage compartment with the storage bin drilled out and some sort of road crap splash guard installed:my plan B but I hate to loose the space and open a whole bin up to road grime/dust

I was thinking about making a mounting bracket that would hold an 11#er on the drivers side of the rear ladder to the roof about 5' up just under the rear window hieght. Keeps it outside....it's high up enough to not be ugly if someone smacks into the back of me.....I can incorporate a lock into the bracket.....ladder is still usable.....any1 see a downside???

Think it would be illegal in most states to have it exposed on a ladder. Just my opinion, no lawyer, and no traffic cop.

you are not up for the task
seems a RV repair shop should be able to
do the job in an hour
100 bucks plus parts ???

you will know that it's done right
save yourself a hundred bucks

I would check with a dealer. Many MH and TT offer an option of a bbq and then come with a connector mounted on the right side. Likely there is a place on an existing gas line that could have a T added and run to a connector for a grill. This would then only require a short hose to hook up. IMHO any arrangement like this would be better than carrying a "loose" propane tank.

Hmm, hadn't thought about some type of a mounted recessed quick disconnect fitting with a cover plate on the passenger side. Still not loving carrying 20' of rubber hose and being limited to that distance but definitly a better way to go for that option. Guess you'd have to have a bbq with a stand this way rather than a picnic top model. Was trying to avoid having to stow a stand.

Our new unit came with a door with connector and a grill with stand. Only needs a 3 foot hose. Previous TT had a grill that hung on a rail mounted on side of trailer and had gas connection right below it. Our daughter's 5ver has a grill with a bracket that swivels off the back bumper to the right side where there is a gas connection. Several different options are viewable on camping world or other websites.
