Leave Refrigerator Running?
Greetings All
After searching, I can't find an answer to this, but how many leave their refrigerator running when camper is parked between trips?
I appreciate the responses.

When I was at a permanent site, I left both indoor and outdoor fridge on all summer.
My indoor fridge never had a problem. The outdoor fridge died once and I assumed it eventually got too hot without enough air circulation. After I replaced it, I continued to leave it on, but if I were to do it again, I'd put a small fan in compartment to increase the air circulation.

There have been many threads on this subject.
Answer: many do; many do not.

Bought my trailer in Sept and it’s been sitting in the driveway full time with fridge running! Makes a nice beer fridge. Doubles up as a man cave

We also have a residential refrigerator and use it as an extra one when at home. Also leave our A/C heatpump on 85 during the hotter months. Doesn't add much to our electric bill.

Is this what you do or an admonition not to leave it on?
If the latter can you explain why?

I've never left a refrigerator running in a camper trailer unless there was only a few days between uses but I can see how well it should work if you have access to power which I only have in my driveway where the HOA rules limit me to a few days. No power at the offsite storage site.
I could and have left it running for several days on propane and that uses less than two pounds of LP and only about 20 amp hours of 12vDC (to power the electronics) a week.

Guess it really depends on where you live. I'm in Nebr. and when we're done for the season, the trailer is shut down completely. I do leave frig running during the summer, but that's it. Temp is a factor in leaving it running in winter. Most residential frig's will not operate in cold weather and freezers will thaw out as the compressor will not operate. That's why I have to shut my garage frig down in the winter in my "UNHEATED" garage.

All depends, do you have a source of power? My trailers get parked in a storage lot, so the fridge gets turned off. If I didn't, I'd return to a dead battery within a few days. My parent's trailer that's on a seasonal site, runs year round.
If I could keep the trailer at home and keep it plugged in, then I'd probably at least have it on for the season, and I'd leave it stocked with the non-perishables (like condiments) instead of always having to unpack them and making room for them in the garage fridge at home.

Sidetrack here for second, but that's why we don't leave anything in the Garage fridge's freezer. Our garage is heated, but just with a small electric heater set to about 50°. The fridge cycles just enough to keep the fridge cold, but not enough to also keep the freezer frozen.

I assume you are talking about an absorption refrigerator. It depends if you have power at storage. My rig always has power so my Dometic fridge gets turned on in March and stays on 24/7 till November. With that said, the RV needs to be relatively level when parked so as not to cause problems.

No for me as well. Our TT sits in storage facility, and I pull the battery and shut the gas off while it's there.
