Left, Right or Center?

When backing or pulling into your camping site, which position do you take? Do you like as much gravel/pavement as possible by your entry door (left), or do you prefer to have the grass/dirt nearby (right) so when you step outside you feel you are really camping, or do you go to the center and share the pavement with the “utility” side?

I am usually back as far as possible where my awnings don't hang up in any trees and so my slides don't hit the utility posts and where I don't have to lift 1 side 4" because of the off level of the spot

Assuming there aren't obstacles that interfere with slide out or awning, I usually choose whichever is the closest to level. If the whole spot is level, and there are no concerns with obstacles, I usually park so that I have as much site as possible on the door side.

Pretty much this, As far back and as far over to the "utility/driver side" as possible!

If you are using a Park for the First/Last time it is Sometimes a Crapshoot in regards to "Where and What" you can/Have to do! It makes NO difference if its a "State Park/County Park/COE Park/RV Resort/Fed Forrest/WalMart" there are places where Some units just "Ain't Going to Fit Right"! Youroo!!

Ditto what everyone else said with one addition. I want my drain pipe at least 5' away from the site's sewer dump so my sewer hose can be as straight as possible. Any closer and I have put a 'S' bend in it.

I park so my awning is as far away as possible from the fire pit. A lot of campgrounds have "fixed" pits and I don't want my awning damaged by a spark. Other than that I then look at where sewer is if full hook up. Then I check for slide clearance.

I'm with the "as far ulitilty/street side as I can get to allow as much "yard" space as possible. When the DW and I pull into a campsite, after the initial back in, I will leave the rig running, get out and scope out the best position with my wife and then make any adjustments that we both think will give us the best positioning of our RV.

With three slides and two awnings, I optimize for clear space. I also don't worry about being in "straight" Sometimes a little angle makes all the difference!

Positioned however I can best fit 4 slides and an awning on a 40' fiver around all obstacles while optimizing outside camping space and location of hook ups. The truest answer would really be where DH tells me to put it.

Well, this being an election year, I first cringed at the subject title!!

However, I opt for the most yard in front of the door so there is plenty of space for our chairs and the table under the awning. I also pay attention to where the fire pit is so the awning is away from that.

Next is the hookups especially the sewer one. I have had to adjust to get the height needed to be sloped into the sewer connection.

Making sure the slide does not hit anything is another consideration.

Then there is the location of the neighbors........

Not much choice

We frequent Ohio State Parks, and the pads are so narrow, I only have 1' on each side to spare - go for the middle.

We get as far to the utility side as possible (allowing for slide). The bigger the area we're planning on 'living' in with 2 dogs, fire ring, picnic table, grill, chairs, etc. the better.

I've got 3' slides so that wouldn't work for me.

In many campgrounds that we've been at, the drive for the camper may be a bit higher than the rest of the site. If it's uneven that way, I'll park closer to the site side. Otherwise, I prefer to park further over on the driver side with enough room on the back to comfortably hook up and move around the slideout.

I prefer to be closer to the driver's side edge of possible to give myself more room on the door side.
