Length of camper disclosed to campground

Please help settle this between me and my husband. We have a 274dbh which is a 27-foot trailer. With hitch it is 30.8 ft. We called our favorite campground to make a reservation but the available sites top out at 30 feet. I disclosed the length of 30.8 ft when I called and was turned away. Hubby is annoyed the campground can't accommodate our camper. We have camped there and seen much larger rings than our average sized camper. He wants to call back and simply state it's a 27 ft camper.
What length is the true measure when asked?

The measured length. The model numbers are basically meaningless.

I usually include the hitch. However, I'd probably call them back and say "are you really sure"? Usually, they'll ask if you're flexible with how your TV sits on the lot or if you're ok with overhang to the grass, etc.

That's moronic. Tell them the length of the box and length of the box plus tongue. It's that simple.

Many campgrounds use third party reservation services and they don't always use max lengths that vary by site, but rather use one or two lengths that are dictated by the smaller sites. The max length is determined such that the RV and TV can fit in the site without hanging out in the road.

30’8”? If you’ve been there before then you know your 30’ trailer will fit. Tell them it’s 30’!
