Length of leveling boards

I use a cow mat cut into 3 ft x 1 ft strips. Works great, can stack them as high as you want and they don't slide around, easy to clean before storing and indestructible.

You will still need a board or something solid to set them on, they will sink in soft dirt or sand.

I have been using them for years and never had a problem with that.

Our method needs No boards or worry about axle spread! They have a Big foot print and lite weight easy to clean and Not effected by water! Youroo!!

boondocking, you snuck your post in before my reply made it! I was referring to the Tri-Lynx leveling blocks that timfromma was talking about. Timing is everything.

WRVOND..I have to check out the Anderson levelers....seems like less hassle then placing the correct number of "boards/lego blocks" under the tires.
With that set if your are going to build a set of landing board (s) might sure the length takes into account the placement of wheel chocks. I added 8" on both ends to the required length. I agree with Baldicon use a 10" board. We used 5/4 x 10" PPT broads they fit in the bed of the TV and are easy for DW to maneuver...but the Anderson levelers look like a good investment. Can you use the Anderson levelers to change a tire???

I have 2x8x24" (several of them) all stored in one trailer compartment.

Back into site, check level. Determine how much lift is needed on one side (usually only one board per tire). Place one board next to each tire to be lifted. Pull ahead enough to clear front board. Wife pushes both boards straight into wheel path. Backup onto both boards. Trailer leveled.

Been doing this for the past 5 years now and it always works. If 2 boards are needed (or one board on one tire only to raise by 1") then modify placement of boards accordingly. Using the method described above I've never "missed" hitting a board. Will not matter if axles are 30", 32" 48" apart; place boards so that middle of 24" span is directly under the hub of each wheel.

I don't believe they have enough lift to get the other wheel clear of the ground. Anderson does make one that is intended to serve that purpose, though I've never tried it. I carry an hydraulic bottle jack that will work for both the TT and my truck.

Front to back leveling is fixed with your tongue jack.

I made some new ones last month. Used two 2x8x8. I made three 3' pieces and four 2' pieces. I cut 45° angles on the ends and reversing the angles on each end some I can line up several boards if needed. This also prevents the boards from tipping up when I drive over the joint. Easily stackable for added height.
