We have a 2003 Chevy 1/2 ton 5.3l pulling a 5000 lb (dry) TT. I keep the speed no more than 60 on the highway.

5 day trip, all mountains in Nor-Cal, and southern Oregon. Outside temps 90's to 100's. I averaged 11.1 mpg. 1st day was 9 hours of repeated 6 and 7% grades. That got very tiring. Looking at my engine gauges more than I was the road.

4 day trip to the Bay area. Trailer is about #7500 , averaged 10.5-12 mpg, speed always between 55-60, had the Siskiyou pass both directions, hot temperatures (95+), and some strong crosswinds in the Sacramento Valley area.

Unfortunately I got to encounter my first major truck issue. Had to replace the FICM in Rio Vista to tune of a grand Cannot complain too loudly, I have had the truck since new, and after 125,000 miles something is bound to go.

Our trip from central MO to see the mouse in Florida in April.
My 2013 3/4 ton chevy, big gas engine and 25 foot Cruise lite, we got 9.6 for the entire trip according to the truck computer.
I set the cruise at 60 and was in tow/haul mode on the tranny.

No matter where we go we seem to average around 10-11 mpg. Going up hill in the mountains it dropped to 9.3 and going downhill to home about 12.3. This past weekend driving down into the coastal plain it was 11.4 and coming it was 10.8. Normal unhitched, city driving we get 19-20 mpg.
