leveling

I have a 2013 Flagstaff 8528RKWS. It seems when I go and level I am in the bubble side to side. As soon as I put the slide out I feel like I am lower on the slide side. I know it shouldn't make a difference but does anyone else experience the same thing? I guess the slide out has enough weight that I am going to have to compensate for it. Any thoughts or revelations?

Getting frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep... it happens especially if you have just one larger slide.
You can 'cheat' the bubble a little to the high side (slide side) so when you put out the slide, you are level. (WOW, say that 10 times fast!)

I have three slides.
When I open the two smaller ones on the left, it leans just a little that way (oh so slightly) but when I extend the larger slide on the right, I'm back level.

Yes, my Rocky also has just one big slide out and does make a difference.

We usually are on level ground when camping (mostly Colorado State Parks) but I still will drive up on leveling blocks to bring the side-out side up an inch or so.

I always level with the slides out. Some people say you do not have to, but we have 5 slides on our unit. When I do that, it does not move or get out of level. Our unit does have the 6 point auto level.

I was told to auto level level with slides in, then after level slide them out.

I did do that with out sliding them out for the first 6 months and it always was moving. I put pads under each ram and got as low as possible shortest extension but, it still was moved to much form the DW. I started leveling with the slides out, and is does not have any movement. I have done it that way since then.

Of course I DO NOT PUT any blocks under the jack pads other than the Lynx blocks that are covered with alum and bolted to them. I try to get the legs as vertical as possible. I also have electric jacks in front of the axles which also now have the alum covered Lynx blocks bolted to the pads.

I've always heard the exact opposite. The less you have to extend the jacks, the less they'll wiggle. Although that may only apply to scissor jacks.

If you look at the design of the stabilizer jacks, the more vertical the legs, the better. The jacks are designed to slide from side to side.

My first V-lite had two slides and I would check level before putting slides out it would say level but after putting out always out of level. So I'd use a 2x8 board on the side out side then lower stabilizing jacks then run the slides out. Now it was always level and the center door would close and stay.

Amazing there are so many theories of leveling...slides in/out..."kettle black-kettle not... from the TT veterans leveling seems to be a technique which comes with experience and personalized to suit your situation. Let me add another method which works for us. Our manual states to level before extending slides. SO Once we have chosen our landing spot I place a 4' level perpendicular to the front door and raise the low end of the level until the bubble touches the corresponding black make....in other words the bubble is beyond center at this point. The distant between the bottom of the level and the TT floor is the thickness of my leveling boards placed under the wheels of the low side of the TT...when the two slides are extended....voila....the bubble is dead center. This process takes all for a few minutes and works for us. Now I have to admit...we haven't parked in a field yet.

You say you feel, have you actually checked how much it is going off level?

I level then open (6pt). No issues with side to side changes in level.
