leveling boards
So for leveling I know the main options are boards (cheap), lego blocks (35-50) and Anderson levelers (70ish). I want the Andersons although i have already spent way more than i budgeted for this year on mods and accessories. So before heading to camp today i am going to stop and grab a few 2x10s or 2x8s, old ones from old camper are too short and i meant to measure the wheels distance this morning but forgot
so quick question.... rather than trying to keep the boards long and trying to get them in the pass through what are your thoughts on cutting the boards into say 1 or 2 foot lengths then stacking them as needed like the lego blocks?
second question, i borrowed the lego blocks from family on a trip last year, didnt care for them but they worked. my only issue which goes for the boards too, putting a chock behind the wheels sitting on legos or wood didnt seem like they would stay in place. I put more attention to the wheels that were on the ground (two chocks). do you guys put a chock on the legos or boards or just the wheels on the ground?

I use boards the same length as my wheels + about a foot. I use X-chocks on both sides. I found the longer boards are easier for me to use. I store mine in the truck bed. My friends use smaller boards with no problems, but also use X-chocks.
If you are thinking about andersen levelers and have watched the cool video make sure you measure the distance between your wheels, they would not work with my rig and I wasted $85 because I cut them to fit. Cool idea just doesn't work with all trailers.

I use the Lynx leveling block plus x-chocks. I had to buy 2 sets of levelers, one for each tire. I also had to buy the large x-chocks since my tires are too far apart for the standard ones.

You are making this all too difficult. Just get the Andersen Levelers and you will never regret it. In two minutes, my wife and I are level and I never have to get out of the trunk. Then level front to back, place x chocks, extend slide and stabilizers. Why would you do anything else with back and forth stacking of blocks or boards?

Might be cheaper, but using the Andersons mean only one trip from the truck to put them down and one trip back to the truck to stow them when leaving. I want the easiest, less walking during setup and tear down as possible.

Caution, A rare thing happened to me using boards. When pulling off the board, the second axel tire tipped the board up enough that it caught the stab jack and mangled it. Had I asked the DW to watch, I would not have had to spend two hours rebuilding it.
Lesson learned.

Andersen levelers don't fit all trailers.

Only have 3" between the tires on my trailer and with a little modifying to the Andersons, they work great!

youroo..... i am usually very good and figuring out how something works but your system has me stumped. Pull past level on one, then slide the other in place and level out?
guys, believe me, i hate boards, REALLY want the andersons, but i am by no means rich lol. yes sure i have the money but try to stick to somewhat of a budget but have already gone way past this year on the camper mod/accessory budget.
but on a good note someone has messaged me with a used set of andersons at a great price so, this weekend will be boards (maybe just the old short ones) and soon i will have used andersons.

I can look at the bubble and usually judge how many blocks I need to make it level.

So you make the DW carry the boards back and forth.

Pretty easy mod with a table saw and a belt sander. Took all of 30 minutes and it is permanent.
