I had similiar issue like ALHA on my 22" until I read a similar post that suggested closing propane valve, hook up the hose and slowly open propane. Haven't had the issue since.

Ya, get yourself a good regulator Made in the usa and you will never deal with those issues again. I have replaced all the junk regulators with quality built in the usa.

Good advice, I got it working this evening for the next few coats (might have lucked into doing it correctly by accident), but in the mean time I ordered a new one from Walmart out of frustration with this one, as they miraculously had them showing in stock online.

I will give them a 2nd chance, and if that one comes in fine, I will exchange it, as I really would rather have one in new condition then dented all to heck and not really fitting on the stand properly. I will probably keep the grill top since the seasoning is going pretty well, but I guess we'll see on Thursday when it is supposed to come in.

The lighter spots in the middle of the pic are not reflections, they are the hotter spots under the H burners so I guess overbaked the oil off, but still overall it looks pretty good. Not done, but getting there, should be good with a few more coats and a little better regulated heat.

As per your not having a high flame, I have had that with my 36 incher awhile back and it did turn out to be the tank was low on fuel. I switched it out with my spare full tank and had plenty of flame. If possible maybe check and make sure it isn't a tank issue as well, I have had a time a few years ago where on my other grill, the tank had some kind of issue in it, maybe a seal or spring that holds the valve closed when disconnected? I don't know. I took it to an exchange a tank place and exchanged it for a full one that looked newer. No further problems. I usually like to refill my own tanks at Tractor Supply, they do it for 10 bucks a tank. But sometimes I'll get one at a store where they have those exchange deals for already filled tanks. Sometimes those are mass refilled and can be not all the way full so, they are sometimes not as good of a deal as they advertise. But, I always look for tanks that look fairly new.

Well, ended up trading in the base for the new one. I went to the store, pulled it aside and unboxed the new one, put the new griddle on top of my dented up one, put everything back in the box just as it had come out of it, and then returned it.

The cool thing is (which I don't feel guilty of because of all the screwing around which I have done to get to this point), I got the full purchase price of this 2nd one back, so I ended up saving $40 for my troubles. All in all, I think it'll be good, the new one looks good, works good, and will be inaugurated on the camping trip later this week!

I have never even heard of one of these Blackstone things before. Now I am going to have to go buy one after reading this thread and watching youtube videos of griddle cooking. Ugh, I am running out of the green stuff.

Might be a bit small. The 22 might be in order but I read it weighs 60 pounds. It that right?

Brian, all together, possibly, but if you do it in pieces (stand/legs, base, then put the griddle onto the base), it isn't all that bad. It isn't light when it's together, but taking the griddle top off before moving it makes it a pretty easy process I've found.

We got a bag that just the griddle goes in and a bag for the rest of it. Definitely works good separating the two.

Thanks alha. I actually thought about that last night.

Cheesesteaks came out great last night but it was really tight trying to cook 4 of them. I ordered the 22" kit from Walmart last night.

Got it

After reading this post I had to buy. Arrived today, I seasoned it this evening and ordered the hose and adaptor to hook up to my RV line. Tomorrow morning bacon and eggs. Can’t wait To take it camping end of the month.

I started looking this griddle, is the best place to buy one at on Amazon. I plan on getting a Blackstone tabletop griddle. I was looking at YouTube videos today, I’m buying one. I like frying a steak.

Check Walmart they normally have good deals also. I got mine cheaper at Wally than Amazon was offering.
