Locked Out

We are on a trip from Texas to north eastern Ohio and on the second day after traveling from Hot Springs to Nashville we were setting up and the wife says “I can’t get in the door”. So I walk around and try, the handle lock is unlocked but when I try the deadbolt the key just spins. Nothing we tried worked so after about 30 mins of trying we started calling local locksmiths. Did I mention it’s Saturday before Easter at 5:30 pm.
We finally found a locksmith to come out but after 3.5 hours and drilling a hole all the way through the door he was unable to get it open. At this time we are beginning to panic. All of our medications are in the camper not to mention clothes. We don’t know what to do so we decide to cancel the trip and start to head back to TX but it’s late so we get a room for the night.
The next morning over breakfast we decide to try and break out the door window but before we did I wanted to see if I could get a new handle. Camping World on Music Valley Drive was the only local RV parts place open on Easter Sunday so at 9:30 we’re sitting in their parking lot. Sign on the door says open at 11:00 due to holiday. About 10 mins after we get there a guy comes out the door to see if we need any help. Turns out to be the General Manager Roy Crutchfield. We tell him our problem and he says his service people will be in at 11 and he’ll get them right on it but in the mean time if we need coffee or restroom just come on in which we did for both. True to his word at a little before 11 he came out with a tech. He tried the door but we agreed that breaking the window was the best option. He broke the window and was finally able to remove the handle. They had a new door handle and replacement window in stock. Both were installed and we were able to continue our trip within an hour and no labor charge.
Thanks to Roy his service tech and the whole Camping World team for helping us to continue our trip.

P. S. I did the lock recall about 3 years ago that was suppose to prevent the lock from locking you in or in our case out.

A nice response from Camping World! Glad you were able to continue the trip, too.

On occasion...you run into the "Right People" and they step up and go above and beyond to help you out. Cu-do's to that G.M.

I think that was the second Camping World. First was in Bowling Green, when I was 15 in 1975 we bought a Coleman AC unit there, Coleman installed on the 1971 Citation made in Hensell Ontario.

Nice Story on Camping Wolrd, there are lots of good people there!!
