What is the best way to lock the Portable RV Surge Protector Portable EMS-PT30X so that it doesn't get stolen? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Best security for EMS
Actually, I have a cable lock that I use for my Hughes Autoformer. Loops thru the handle and around the pedestal.

I run a steel cable with loop ends through it, and lock it with a padlock.

Sometimes. Mostly I don't worry about it.

Agreed with others
Cable lock and padlocks. If they're gonna steal it they'd have to cut the cable or the wire. Either way it's not fast. The thief will look for a easier target.

We use a cable lock and make sure to cinch it tight below the electrical box. Since most boxes are so low to the ground, a thief would have good leverage to cut the cable with a pair of bolt cutters, but figure the cable might make them move on to an easier opportunity.

Has anyone on this site, or any other manufacturer site, ever had one of these portable units stolen? Has anyone heard of anyone having one stolen?
I understand folks might 'fence' a hot one at some pawn shop. But doubt they'd get much if the pawn operator knew about them........RV'ers don't shop at pawn shops.
Can't imagine the thief stealing it to use for himself..........just too weird.

I'm having a hard time picturing this and probably being a little dense, but if you loop a cable around the box and lock it can't it just be lifted off?

Don't just loop it around the box. Loop it through some part of the box/pedestal. There's usually some part that will work.

We use a simple piece of chain, about 16-20 inches ling and a padlock. Take about 3-4 links of chain tight around the center of the dogbone and slip the padlock arm through it. Then run the rest of the chain tight around the pedestal and lock it with the padlock. There will be 3 links of chain in the lock. It can't be lifted off since it's below the box on the pedestal.
This will keep honest people honest - but not much can compete with bolt cutters. Fortunately, most campers probably don't carry them.

I use a heavy duty cable and a big lock. After wrapping the cable enough I lock it through the cable ends and the metal piece on the EMS. If you want to slow them down a little more use a second padlock to lock the cover over the outlets. Now you've really given the bad guys a reason to look elsewhere.

Try this for lock
I had same concerns and purchased a metal lock box with lock from Amazon
Guess if someone is committed to stealing they will get it
This way of they do they will need to work on it
Good luck .. we are please with what we brought

Where are you camping?
I read a LOT. Obsessively about RVing. Seriously, it's not healthy. You're the first reference to these being stolen and you're saying you know SEVERAL people who have had them stolen?
So seriously, where are y'all camping? I don't want to stay there.

First I've EVER heard of one being stolen.
I even know of one guy who left is lying on top of the pedestal at a park in New Mexico and drove off. They called him to say "Hey, you forgot something". He paid for them to mail it to him. No one walked off with it, and it was just lying there at a vacant camp site.
Surely never heard of "several" being stolen.....

I use to electrical cables . I run one from the pedestal into my lower storage cabinet and connect it to my surge protector I then connect it to other cable that runs to my unit. I then lock my lower storage door.

Helps keep honest people honest
I use the cable Masterlock. It will fit it into the holes made to lock the electrical box. You could cut it of course. Hoping it will make someone look elsewhere.
