Looking For New 5er - Rockwood or Wildcat

We are currently looking for a new 5th wheel and we are not sure which unit to get. We really like the wildcat brand but there weights are just a little too heavy for or truck and not sure if we should go that direction. So, with that in mind, we have also been looking at the Rockwood Ultra Lite units since they are a lot lighter.

Can anyone give us some feed back (good or bad) on the following models.:

Rockwood 8280SS or 8280WS

Wildcat 25RL or 29RLBS

One of the biggest things we see that can be a huge problem on the RW 8280WS is the door and the awning, the door hits the awning arm so the hold open cam keeps the door open 90° and we enjoy keeping the door open and with that type of hold open we can just see it being damaged. We asked the dealer if we could purchase a larger awning to move the arm to a different location and they are telling us it can not move / done. We also asked about moving the awning and they say that is a no go as well.

Thanks;

Troy

We have the 8280SS and just love it...plenty of room and the lightest 5th I have found for it's lenght. I pull it just fine with an F-150. I think the bedroom slide will increase the pin weight beyond my trucks capacity. Besides, I like the windows in the bedroom and the bath layout of the 8280SS. There is plenty of storage, except for having towels handy to the shower so I handled that by putting towel bars in the bathroom.

I have pics up in the photo gallery, have a look. Also use the search tool so see other commets I have made about my trailer.

And Welcome Aboard FRF! Jump right in and join the frey.
