We've been planning to visit Babcock, Twin Falls, Camp Creek, Beartown, and/or Watoga sometime this Summer - I believe that those are in the general vicinity of where you are talking about. What type of park (public or private, hookups desired, etc.) are you looking for and what you do like to do when camping (hike, relax, meet people, etc.)?

The State parks are out then - they only have electric and sometimes water (no sewer hookups that I am aware of in any of them), but you may be able to find private (non-government operated that is to say) RV parks near those spots.

All of the parks I listed have good hiking and things to see (lots of nature and some history), but I can't speak to the meeting people aspects - we're a couple of quiet-seeking campers and talking on the Internet like this is a about as social as we get Hit up the West Virginia State Parks website for places of interest, and then if you prefer full hookups look for nearby campgrounds using something like the KOA or GoodSamClub websites as they list many of the private RV parks. We usually stay in State parks because the spots are smaller and we can easily camp without any hookups if needed or I would try to make suggestions for non-State parks locations...

How far are you looking to travel? There are several good campgrounds in southwest Virginia near the Tennessee and Kentucky border.

How far SW in W.Va.? We took a trip from Richmond to explore SW Virginia a few years ago. We camped at Cumberland Gap (federal park), toured and hiked the gap. Nearby Wilderness Road S.P. has no campground but is only a 20 min. drive from the Gap and is a recreation of a frontier settlement. Sort of the Williamsburg of the frontier as far as living exhibits and docents to answer questions.
Up the road lies Natural Tunnel S.P. and campground. A must see. Also there's a CG at Breaks Interstate park on the Ky.-Va. border where the Russell Fork flows through the Grand Canyon of the east.
A bit further east from you is Claytor Lake S.P.
Have you been to Stonewall Jackson Lake? There's a resort there that runs a W.Va. state park campground. It has full hook ups.
