Lost my range hood vent flap!

If I want to use my exhaust fan over the cook stove I have to go outside and turn two little clips that lock the flap closed. Well we were in Colorado camping for a week and I opened it the first day. A week later we left and I forgot about the vent flap. When I got home I noticed it was missing. I called the service department where we purchased our camper to buy a new one. I was told they don't sell the flaps just the entire range hood. I was hoping this was not a unique situation and that maybe someone knows where I could buy just the plastic flap. Hoping...

Check around other dealers. I bought a replacement several years ago. Dealer had both in stock. As a last resort, give McCords Vancouver RV a call

Look here-- RV Range Hood Vents - Arizona RV Parts Center
Google rv range exhaust flapper.
Same thing on Ebay.

A few years back I posted photos showing how to install tiny brass hinges so you don't loose it again.... can't seem to find it now. Thought it was in the FAQ.

Found it- http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...fix-15553.html

Install a Fabulous Products fan replacement. Internal shutter, quiet,LED lights. A great upgrade! I bought the first one in Goshen 2014. They are selling well.

Well, this thread has gone from using coat-hanger wire, to using $4 worth of hinges, to completely replacing the range hood's "guts" for $199, and back to using aluminum rod that was just laying around.

Something for everyone in there!

Happened 8 weeks ago. Left the clips loose and flap vanished. Went to rv dealer. Bought complete outside vent for 14.95. Two screws and I removed the flap and installed on camper same way.

Yes but the new one is going to go the same route as the old one unless
you do something else!!
My tiny brass hinge fix is forever and takes about an hour IF you still have
your flapper!

Happy Trails!

I used brazing rod as I have some, but most folks don't, so a pc of coat hanger will work just fine and won't break off like the plastic ones do. Eliminates the need for additional hinges.

This is why we use a checklist for setup and teardown - sometimes CRS hits and we forget stuff.

I lost the locking tabs on my exhaust vent on my previous tt. The flap was still there. The mod I did was to make a 4" finger out of scrap plexiglass. I removed a lower mounting screw from the vent assy and mounted the finger there. The finger pivoted up to hold the flap closed. Was easier to operate than the two locking tabs.
