I prefer no noise when camping myself, but I can tolerate music at a moderate volume that is appropriate for the general public. What I cannot tolerate is someone blaring music that is completely inappropriate for my young daughters to hear. I will say that I don't recall any campers doing this- but boaters are a different story. I've had to leave lake beaches because some moron thought it was ok to blare raunchy music from his boat that could be heard a mile away.

My sister plays country music and that's just not something that's appropriate for anyone, much less the general public!
