Lum's Pond State Park Delaware

Lum's Pond has now completed upgrades to the CG most of not all sites are now FHU. We will be staying there this weekend and will report back as to upgrades. Previously this was a 68 site CG with only 6 sites having electric. Other sites were dry camping only. If this upgrade is sucessful other DE SP will follow suit. Killen Pond has already upgraded their electric to 50 amp on several loops this year. They are currently mapping out FHU possibly in as early as two years. Really hoping Trap Pond will see some improvements as well.

Is it true they charge out of staters more than what it states through reserve America?

Not sure of pricing thru reserve America but there is a higher fee for out of state. Later today I will post out of state pricing for you.

Well welcome to slower lower Delaware. Killen's pond SP is nice for hiking, it does have a water park. Which has been updated this season as well. Have not seen that yet

look at all the Delaware people all of a sudden. I go to Trap Pond 12-15 times a year. Will be there this weekend. I walked through the Lums Pond campground 2 weeks ago. Looks like it will be pretty nice. Not sure why alcohol isn't allowed there but is in other campgrounds.

Pocahontas State park south side of Richmond is really nice. We go to Tuckahoe State Park west of Denton MD quite often. Elk neck State Park in Northeast MD. Will mention Holiday Park is no Holiday!

I have heard years ago that Lums Pond was a not such a nice place. In fact anything but nice, wild parties, drugs and violence was once the norm there. So the "no alcohol" probably stems from that. I would imagine as long as your not acting like a race fan it would be "overlooked".

you got that right. Not that it's bad. Just really outdated, "activities" are a joke, and it's too expensive for just water/electric.

I was at Fox Point State Park this past Sunday. It is off of I 495 above Wilmington. No camping.

Sign at entrance said admission is $4.00 but out of state visitors pay $8.00.
Kind of irked me because the is not much there, a parkng lot, a playground, bathrooms, pavilion, benches and a trail. And a nice view of the Delaware River.

But, there was no ne there to collect the fee.

We were there for the first time last year (we live near Emmaus, PA) and loved it. We stayed in one of the electric sites and the camp host told us they were going to almost all FHU. Anxious to hear your report as we would love to go back next season, or fit a trip in this season if we can. Have a great time!

We stayed at Yogi up on RT 1 and my camper almost melted down to the ground. There was a short in the electrical box and the guy next to started sparking and then I started sparking. It melted our power cable, and the camper plug.

The first time stayed there, they put us on an ant mountain. It took about a month to get rid of all of the ants in the camper. I wouldn't recommend it.

I used to stay at Holly Lake on 24 as well, though it's not that bad, but. .

Fox point is a former SuperFund Site. I believe it was Dupont (could be wrong) severely contaminated that area. The state dug a lot of dirt and debris out of that area, destroyed that stuff. Brought in fresh dirt, back filled and called it a park. Could also be why it's not manned They really should not charge for that place all you can do is look at the water. Wilmington's Riverwalk is more interesting and that's free.

Nice to see other Southern Delaware campers. We are from Camden, DE. Never been to Lum's though....we will have to try that now.

I had not heard that Killeen's had upgraded to 50 amp....any idea which loops they upgraded?

We tend to like Yogi in Milford...sorry to see others having problems there. We also like Assateague but very few electric sites there. Frontiertown is nice, but I got disgusted with the 3 night minimum in summer which does not work well for my job.

Has anyone tried Massey's Landing down around Long Neck. Seems to be a new location in 2016.
