MaxxAir II question

I have a 2011 2702 SS on order and looking at things to have on hand when the trailer arrives. I am interested in MaxxAir II just how many of these do I need for my trailer. I know there is a fan in the bath room, not sure there are anyothers. I did not order the extra creat a breeze fan. So does this mean I only need 1?

You have two vents in the 2702SS that could use a cover: one over the shower/tub and another over the master bed. It is up to you whether you think you will need to cover both. I did in my 2702SS.

Now you have to decide: translucent white or black. The dealer had a TT in stock with the black ones on and they looked pretty sharp (a nice contrast to an all white TT). They also let less light in. Decisions, decisions......

PS. Don't ask the DW, it is the outside of the TT so that's our domain. The interior is hers!

MaxxAir II

I always use white, seems the dark ones would make the AC work harder.

Just my opinion.

DW = Dear Wife, DH = Dear Husband.

Yes, these covers are for the vents not the A/C.

Maybe what Daisy is saying is that black absorbs more heat thus potentially making the A/C working a little harder. I still liked the black ones better.

Bought ours from Amazon.
They had the best price (beat my local dealer by $4) & free shipping.

I was looking into this as well...found what I wanted at RV Wholesalers but waited to order until I got home last night to check up on the roof to see how installation would go. I found out that the vents themselves...or atleast the sil around the vents are covered very heavily with the sealer FR applies upon manufacturing. I was under the impression that these covers were bolted to the frame/sil that goes around the vent. There is no way I can attach these covers without removing the sealer/caulking or I have to drill into the roof around the vents. I have a 2011 Shamrock 233s. Is this something new or am I missing the intent to install?

The covers are bolted with 8-32's or something close to that size. Don't remove any caulking around the vent. The caulk is soft, I pushed the mount brackets into the caulk a bit and then drilled holes in the side of the vent cover (not the roof). The vents don't have to sit tight on the roof (mine are off about a 1/4" - to me this is fine, the vents won't rub on the rubber roof). Get the maxxair 2's you can open and clean underneath very easily.

My two cents....

X2 on what shineysideup said

I actually just installed several on my new 5er.
They take about 10 minutes each.
I decided to use pop-rivets instead of the supplied screw/bolts.

You never want to puncture the roof membrane unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the info...so they bolt to the sides of the vent frame in a horizontal position rather a vertical attachment...gotcha.

When pre-drilling holes into the frame for the brackets, I recommend putting a piece of paper or thin cardboard on the caulk to protect it (i.e., between power drill and caulk). Otherwise the spinning chuck will do a job on the caulk...don't ask how I know that.

I prefer white... it doesn't pick up the heat from the sun in the summer as would black or smoke colour...

Make that two pieces of cardboard... another one for the tools! I took my shoes off also, just in case there was something stuck in the soles...
