Medications and such

Hi all,

Since I am so new to rv'ing, I have a total newbie question here. I have no idea what forum this should be under so please forgive me.

Can you keep medications; pills and ointments in the trailer between camping trips? I realize that the heat will melt creams or ointments, but can any damage be done to pills?

Thanks in advance!

Most pills and tablets are affected by heat, even OTC stuff. I wouldn't keep any medication in the RV if the A/C isn't going to be on.

Most meds can not tolerate temperatures above 80° for extended period of times. Talk to your pharmacist for your specific needs but I would not keep them in your RV.

meds

Heat will often mess up drugs, shortening the life expectancy. Some much more than others. Keep them cool. refrigerate if at all possible, will actually lengthen the "use by" date. Many can be kept frozen. Extends the shelf life even further. So, either remove them from the rig, or keep them cold.

We have ours in a small tote that can be easily taken out, or tossed into the 'fridge.
