I put One Bite bars in mine, and got a Tin Cat baited with peanut butter. So far I've taken out 12 mice from my TT just this fall and that after sealing up all holes underneath and placing out dryer sheets. Since placing out One Bite, I've had no problems.

For this to work in the winter, I'm guessing you'd have to replace the water with something like motor oil that won't freeze.

It's even easier than that. A bucket half fill of water, sunflower seeds sprinkled on top (they float), and a board for a ramp leading from the ground to the rim.

I stand by my mouse proofing method: I've always had a cat camping with me in my TT and pop-ups and thus far, have never had a mouse in any of the rigs I owned/own. Reading and seeing the problems people are having this fall has me worried though... I'm going to take my cat out to my TT and let him refresh his scent as a deterrent. Ugh!!

I built one of these because we had a chipmunk in the house and our cat seemed to think it was a pet.
It worked very well

I was told RV antifreeze is food grade oil/something or other mix and thus, is not poisonous to humans. Seems if that is correct, that it would not necessarily be poisonous to mice either.

This whole thread couldn't come at a better time. First I decided to winterize and found some droppings which I had never seen before. That night I also heard scratching in the ceiling. So I was on a mission. I set up a poison bait station under the kitchen sink and sticky pads everywhere else the next day. Next morning a sticky pad under the bathroom sink had a customer, male field mouse. So hoping that was it I still moved the bait station to the cabinet under the bathroom sink where I caught Mr. Mouse. The next morning HALF of the poison bait was gone!
At this point I must thank whoever it was that mentioned the APP called ALFRED. It is a security APP that utilizes an old inactive smart phone through WiFi to use as surveillance. http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ot-147769.html
So I set it up under the bathroom sink which was the access to the ceiling through a bunk wall and the laundry chute to the basement (5er). Suddenly that afternoon I had alerts on my phone. Sure enough there she was, back for more. In the 10 to 30 second clips I was receiving I watched as she jumped all around them sticky pads as if she knew. What she didn't know was that snack she ate.
I know haven't seen her in a day or two. To add to this, I also deployed sacks of mint oil rodent deterent throughout. Even at the access points and she never cared.

Lots of methods to deter, trap or kill mice. Of all the methods available I would recommend against poison for two reasons.

If the poisoned mouse leaves your trailer before it dies it may get eaten by a predator. The poison may kill the predator. I am guessing that would usually be a hawk or an owl. Killing the predator with poison meant for the mice may lead to more mice because of fewer predators. You may or may not care about that but it is something to consider.

The second reason is because the mouse that eats the poison will bleed out and die. It may be wondering around your trailer while this process is happening. I not sure I would want a mouse that is bleeding out walking around my trailer then dying inside my wall.

I would recommend sticking to the traps that kill them and keep them in one spot to be disposed of. If you do use traps I would plan on checking the traps every couple of days to avoid more unpleasant outcomes.
