We usually drive 275 to 325 miles per day. I always unhitch and then drive to a station and fuel up. I like to start each travel day with a full tank of fuel.

I have found that traveling in a car without anything being towed, one averages about 60 miles/hr. i.e. obeying traffic laws, using interstates principal and counting fueling, rest stops and meals. On average, that number for an RV or Camper is 50 miles/hour. I've used this benchmark for years and it turns out to be fairly accurate.

Overnight Tip
I am now the only driver and drive usually 8 hours a day with a stop every 2 hours for a stretich break or bio break or fuel or puppy stop. Drink coffee or coke and you will stop more often.
My tip. For overnight we stop at Cracker Barrel restaurants in their RV parking areas. Almost all of them welcome RVs and you can always have a good dinner and breakfast. There is a map brochure at Cracker Barrel that I use to help me plan our trips. If I feel good and it is still light outside, I might go to the next one on the route.
Of course we do not unhook and do put out the bedroom slide. Look where you are parked for possible trees. You can also wash your face and brush your teeth in their restrooms.

On long trips we drive 4 to 6 hours a day at most.

Usually fill up before stopping for the night. Have gone as low as 88 miles in a day and as high as 580. Usually a tank and a half of gas is a day which is from 225-275 miles.

Same here - I haven't travel far yet but I like to disconnect and fuel up after etting up camp.
Miles per day will vary from one person to another. A common mistake some people will make is to travel too long and not have enough time to rest & enjoy the trip.
My brother & sister-in-law did some cross country traveling and would schedule a shorter day after spending a longer day or two on the road.

As someone else said, an 8 hr day on the road pulling is a long day. We prefer to get an early start in the morning and the find a campsite by 2 pm at the latest. My preference is to make a quick stop every 2-3 hrs and stretch the legs and check on the rig.
Looking for a campsite early will give you better selection and then have some time to check out the neighborhoods.
Cheers,

Came back from Florida last week. Due to the cold wx, didn't want to do a second overnight in PA (doing 500 miles/day) so did two 14 hour days to make the 1250 miles to home in 2 days (625 each day). Not sure I'd ever want to do it attentionally again though.

Hear you!
In 1994 wife and I on 2 motorcycles did 650 miles in one stretch coming home from Nova Scotia. I still feel the pain! 😊
In a comfortable Dodge truck and towing, Max is 425 miles, period. Only did that 1x. No more.😩

Just completed 4000 mile vacation max per day was 325. Stops for lunch or early dinner plus gas. Worked for us?

It depends totally on your age, physical condition and tolerance. I'm 73, have some arthritis and get cramps in my thighs after about 3 hours. Our daily limit was about 180 - 220 miles. DW, being only 4' 10" tall, couldn't drive the rig at all, due to limited steering column angle adjustment and no telescoping column or pedal cluster adjustment.
In retrospect, we probably shouldn't have gone into RVing, but we enjoyed the three years we did it.

For me it's more about how long I'm camping. I try to stay under 100 miles or 2 hours of driving per night of camping. I'll drive 6-700 miles straight if I'm camping for a week. If it's just a weekend, I try to stay under 2 hours. Physically I can still drive 14 hours straight but to me, it's not worth it unless I'm staying for an extended period of time.

We prefer. 150 to 200 miles a day.
And still add in a lay over every couple days.
Retired and in no hurry.
