Thanks for the update. Took a trip last week and using the manual shift got about 10.3. Talked to a dealer and stated that V-10 gas was getting 8 or9 mpg. Trouble with that he insisted that I had a v-10. I checked the window sticker and counted spark plugs and I have a V-8. Next week I think I'll call a different dealer. Hope you are enjoying your trip.

City without trailer I get around 12.5
Highway with trailer I get around 10 - 11 MPG keeping under 65 MPH.
I am not sure but I think my Coachman is around 6500lbs.
Your mileage seems low unless you are going up alot of hills or mountains?

Update.... Went to Lake Chautauqua this weekend in New York. Lots of hills both ways. I averaged 7.5 to 8.5 MPG on the trip. Ran most of the time in 4th and 5th gears. Hit 3rd on some of the big grades. Kept the truck under 65 MPH the whole trip. Winds around 20 - 30 MPH.
NOTE: I am thinking the trailer is closer to 7K based on the 6K dry weight. Also, this trip, I hauled a 900# golf cart in the bed.

Also wanted to note I was towing the Hyperlite 27HFS with the two big bikes (KTM 990 and BMW GS1200Adventure) in the trailer. That was missing information in my first post.

I'm towing with a 2012 Ford F250 6.2L Lariat 4x4. I've got 22,000 miles and I average 13.5 mpg in/around and highway mileage. Pulling my 11,300 lb Crusader, I get 9 mpg at 60-65 mph.

I have the 2012 F250, 6.2L gasser, 3.73 gears, super cab 141.8 WB, 4X4. Towing my 33CKTS fifth wheel. I'm getting 8-9 mpg. Mostly flat to slight rolling hills at 60-65 mpg. In tow/haul mode I'm in 6th gear and 5th gear most of the time.

Wow, I feel good about my truck. I have a 2004 F250 6.8L gasser (v10) 4x2 with 4.30 gears. I tow a 26xltbh that weighs around 5300 loaded but I have towed up to 10k with it and my experience is 8-9 mpg towing no matter what the weight and as low as 6 pulling a mountain like the Sierras or Rockies. 9-11 in town, and 14-15 if I burn up a tank on the freeways lightly loaded (no large profile trailer).

I have been saying that I should get a newer truck with an eight for gas savings, but honestly it looks like I am with everyone else. And its nice to have that extra power when ever I need it. As a side note all my diesel friends agree I don't drive the truck enough to warrant a diesel, I guess with the new smog stuff if you don't drive them enough to achieve a "regular burn cycle" you can have problems down the road and since its in the upper mileage when the problem starts to really get bad the dealers won't do anything.

Finally got a chance to tow with the new truck. I averaged 9.0 mpg on the lie -o- meter towing and estimated 7500 lb TT. I'm happy with that.

However, I was somewhat disappointed with the trucks performance compared to my 07 Tundra. On this trip, which was all highway, the truck would shift down to 4th and sometimes 3rd gear on what I would consider slight inclines. I felt the truck lacked the power needed to maintain a steady speed and seemed to struggle on the slightest of inclines.

The Toyota, pulling the same camper, was never a loss for power and was much more enjoyable to drive while towing the camper.

Where the Ford struggled to maintain a steady speed on the same stretch of road I found my self letting off the gas with the Tundra because I was going to fast.

I tow 5th wheel at 7700lbs dry with 5.7 tundra. 10 mpgs. Handled ozarks fine this week. (Buffalo river) Brother on same trip with dodge 3/4 diesel gets 12 mpgs with 6000lb bumper pull, no problem. Nephew on same trip with ford f250 gasser got 8 mpgs towing 7000 bumper pull and limped 20 mph up same hills that me and brother accelerated up. He was very disappointed with the f250 gasser.

I loved my Tundra. The only reason I got rid of it was because of the small gas tank and limited CCC. The Toyota power train in a 3/4 chassis would be an awesome combination.

We got home a couple days ago from our trip down through Tennessee hauling at close to 8500lbs with 4 adults in our 11 F250. It has 3.73 gears and I will say that it is the best truck I have ever hauled with. Power is not a question with it as it easily hauled in 4th up pretty much any hills we encountered going through the smokies to pigeon forge. we averaged for the netire 4300 mile trip 8.8 mpg which I consider excellent given the wicked head winds we pushed for 14 straight hours one day. I think Ford has over thought the programming for the shift scheduling and running them in manual mode is the only way to go. Also Ford has really made the torque management real tight as the computer will only allow approx 35% throttle opening below 3k rpm, Mike at 5 Star tuning does a great job from what I hear waking these monsters up and even though I am totally happy with how ours performed I will be getting a 5 Star programmed tuner for next season. IMO anyone that is bad mouthing this power train either has a problem with their truck or is just posting to create trouble and has no idea how good this package is. One other thing, run 93 octane if you can as this engine makes more power on 93 and that is right from one of the design engineers of the package. And to the Toyota guys this truck probably weighs close to 1500 lbs more than your 1/2 ton (mine weighs 7368lbs with a full tank and no one in it) so consider that when you discuss performance.

Have you taken your truck in for the recall on the transmission software? I have a 2011 F250, CC, longbed, RWD, diesel and after the updated transmission software I have no issues with the shifting. They are nice trucks although, some are not happy with the 8.5 or so MPG towing. Good Luck

Yes. I said the same thing. Beef up the frame and a 30+ gallon tank.

I only have 1400 miles on the truck and was hoping I didn't need the software update. The dealership will be my first stop when I get home. I really hope that makes the truck better because I really want to like my new ride. I love the integrated brake control, CCC, and distance to empty I get while towing (yes I'm happy with the 8-9 mpg average while towing). I just cant believe how much she struggled with some of the same hills that the Toyota hardly broke a sweat with. I'm not trying to start any issues with all the Ford lovers out there. All I was trying to point out was that in my situation, towing the same trailer with each truck, my old Toyota would run circles around my new Ford in its present state. I truly hope the software update makes this truck more enjoyable to tow with. After all that is the only reason I purchased it.

I would have your truck checked out. I'm pulling 11300 with mine and it pulls like a beast and this comes from a guy that went from a diesel to a gas. Your trans may need to get flashed or reprogrammed.
