And some of the devices will give you a report of traffic accidents and potential delays on route. Some will recommend alternative routes if this would be faster..

I have been using Garmin GPS for years. I distrust others as I have seen and heard of major mistakes by some others.

However, I do consult MapQuest and keep an Atlas handy in route.

A major advantage of a GPS is that if you make a wrong turn or miss a turn, it will reroute you automatically. I also like the ETA feature.

On the downside, the car units may take you on narrow poorly maintained side roads, especially if you have strayed from the original route.

I am waiting to see how the Garmin RV version works before I buy one.
