To me this would be considered a 4 year old used unit.
Lots of good advice here. I really appreciate it.

As to why the dealer has so many 2016 units, I was told that they started carrying RVs in 2016 and FR loaded them up. They're actually a bus dealership. Judging by the number of busses being prepped for delivery, they look really busy.

I had thought about appliances possibly not working and definitely about the roof, seals and tires. I was going to make an offer based on those factors. I think I'll just walk on this one. We liked it but not enough to pay anywhere close to asking price after knowing it's just been sitting on the lot.

Just in case I missed it in this thread, there are some other risks of buying new old stock. Certain things, like pumps, furnaces, water heaters, need to sort of be used with some degree of periodicity. Otherwise, as they sit unused and unexercised for 4 years, they don't weather so well. It's not a perfect analogy, but it's similar to automobiles -- they need to be driven and exercised on occasion. If they sit for years at a time, it's not good.

So, yeah, new old stock trailers are nice in that things aren't worn out from use. However, after a certain amount of time, I'd be more than a little concerned about the counter-intuitive "wear" from just sitting there for so long.

Bako, I bought a leftover 2016 new 27' TT from a Washington State dealer, 2 years ago.
I was able to get it for 46% off of factory MSRP.
So this dealer isn't doing you any favors.

To be fair to the dealer, I haven't made a counteroffer yet. I was trying to make sure I had it low enough so I don't start too high and hurt my negotiating position. Thanks for helping me with a starting point.

I agree with bikendan and others. You should’ve been offered a deal at least 35% off msrp already. But only you can decide what a good deal is for you. It may be 35% off msrp, bikendan’s 46% or it may be 70%. Either way, put on your negotiating hat, and go to work selling them on your deal. Great deals rarely just fall in your lap, but are often hard fought battles. Good luck!

I ran from the deal, as suggested. I found out this morning that the 5th wheel was sold for full MSRP to some other unfortunate soul. I hope he doesn't have any trouble.

Is that what the dealer/salesperson said?

No a childhood friend who is a service technician there called me to tell me about it. He was as surprised as I was.

Well I guess the dealer was right, he knew he would sell the camper and get his price. He probably won’t ever see you again
