New awning question

I believe the awning get on my Wildcat 323MK automatically drops down when it has collected too much water. My question involves the knobs on both arms. How do I use them? Tighten them, loose them? What?

If you tighten both of them, the awning will not dump the water. Only tighten one of them after you pull down some if you are trying to give your awning pitch to shed the water or tighten both of them after pulling both sides down if you are trying to lower the height of your awning.

I tighten mine, one side with a slight drop for rain run off. The auto dump feature will get you when least expect it. I think I get less bounce on the awning when the wind blows with the knobs tight.
Make sure to loosen when retracting awning or it will bind.

I forgot to mention that if you are trying to control which end the water dumps from, tighten only the one knob on the side you don't want it to dump from.

Better to install support poles and tie it down with ratchet straps and dirt screws and slope it to dump. Then you can leave the knobs loose all the time.

I use these attached to the knob I tightened so that I don't forget to loosen the knob before I roll it up. You can find them on Ebay. I use the 6" ones.
