New Camper coming home on March 21st!!

woop woop! We just found out we can take possession of our new camper on 3/21! Cherokee 274DBH.

A bit bummed the dealer doesn't kick in ANYTHING, no starter kit or anything. but from what I've read it's usually junk anyway.
Question about the bare necessities to get before-hand (I don't want them to have the satisfaction of roping me into buying hundreds of dollars of stuff from them on pick up day)

We're all set with a good WDH and brake controller for the TV.
But I'd like to pick up the following before hand and looking for decent quality AS ECONOMIC AS POSSIBLE. We'll upgrade to higher quality stuff in the future. Any recommendations on the following would be greatly appreciated:

Levelers (thinking Lynx?)
Sewer hose and support (do we also need a donut?)
x-chocks
In-line water filter
15 to 30 amp adapter (I'm sure the kids will want to bunk in the driveway at times or if we have guests)
Plug & play style surge protector
Toilet chemicals
Toilet paper

I'm so excited! it's going to be a LONG few weeks. LOL

I'd recommend also picking up a 50 to 30 adapter, since you never know when you'll end up on a 50A only site. You mention the inline filter, but not the actual hose itself. You'll want one marked for drinking water (white).

And congrats on the new camper!

Just a heads up that some drinking hoses are blue.

Whoops, thanks. I meant to have 'usually' in there. Sounded that way in my head, just didn't make it that way on paper.

Look at Andersen levelers. They work great and are easy to use!

Getting everything from Amazon will be your best (cheapest) option. And congratulations BTW.

Safe and happy travels.

Congrats!!!
As for the 15-30 amp adapter....get 2 of them. Trust me one day you will thank me.
As for toilet paper...get the cheap regular toilet paper from Walmart. A lot cheaper and breaks down just the same.

Some states require the use of donuts...check out Walmart for rv"staff" usually prices are lower. Don't forget a gray hose for your black tank clean out.
Enjoy you new Cherokee.
Happy Trails

We just did this a couple weeks ago, I found a starter kit on Amazon that had a cheap version of most of the things you need for $50... water hose, pressure regulator, sewer hose, black tank chemicals, gloves, and 15/30 adapter, toilet paper, all in a 5 GAL bucket that I'll continue to use.

Camco 44745 version VI is what I got. I'll end up replacing everything in there over time, but, it was a start for our first night in the camper.

Congrats!

Very true, we got most of our stuff from Amazon. I do recommend spending more for the better sewer hose. Do some research on pricing now before you pick up to compare.

I see your from CT, may I ask which dealer you bought from?

Amazon is already my best friend I'll definitely get some supplies from there.

We already have the drinking water hose and the water pressure regulator.

We ended up buying from Pete's RV in Burlington VT but they just opened a new place (MacDonald's RV) in Plainville, MA where we will pick it up.

it may save you some money and frustration if you take the first trip close to home with just the basic stuff you have. Then keep notes on things you think you need or things that could make life easier. That way you don't fill your storage spaces with things that only collect dust and take up space

Have fun with the new Camper!
Not sure if you have your eye on any local campgrounds to visit but we often go to Countryside RV in Griswold CT.
Home of Countryside RV Park, CT - Spacious RV Camping Sites
Some of the largest full hook up sites you will find anywhere.
Its very quiet and peaceful, not many activities for children, but for simple relaxation its beautiful.

7 of 9 items found for less than amazon with a quick search. Rather spend where the company pays federal taxes.
Don't buy junk or will be buying again soon. Ask my neighbor about cheap sewer hoses and black tank content cleanup.

Nice, we have friends who have had good dealings with them. I'm not sure what "deals" they got if any on supplies, your on you way if your already shopping Amazon. [emoji6]
