I purchased my leds from this ebayer ( 18 SMD 5050 LED T10 BA9S Dome Festoon Car Interior Light Panel Lamp 12V Favored | eBay ) two years ago and have not had a problem with them. The only thing I had to do was put on better double sided tape to hold them inside the fixtures.

Definitely NOT as quiet as a Honda!
Yes they are both rated at 53db but there is a difference.

Here's the problem the Champion is rated 53db at---23 feet---.

Honda is rated 53db at ---9 feet---.

It is very easy to start, sometimes it takes 2 pulls to start, but usually just 1 pull.
At half the price of a Honda and the same warranty, you can go wrong.

So how loud is the Champion at ---9 feet---???

Not sure where you got the 9 foot information from, but you have been mis-informed.

The standard db test is done at 7 meters (22.9 ft). Both the Honda 2000 and the Champion 2000 were tested and rated at that distance.

When I get my Champion I will test it with an audio meter running on both eco & regular with and without loads. I will compare it to the Honda my father has. I will post results and video. Boondocking is correct on the the Dba ratings.

My information comes from Honda Generator book page 16 that shows the db reading of all their generators.

At the bottom of the page it reads as follows:

" NOISE LEVELS AT RATED LOAD, MEASURED AT 9 FEET (3METERS) FROM THE CONTROL PANEL SIDE OF THE GENERATOR.

If you want to read it for yourself go to Hondas web site and download their brochure.

IMHO somebody's blowing smoke and it ain't Honda.

This stat sheet is a lot different.
Decibel Rating @ 7m: Unknown db(A)
Decibel Rating @ 3m 59

So at 7m I'll bet it's 53

I have the Honda 1000 inverter which I use for my boat (lund fury) and a Yamaha 2400 which I use for our 34 ft. hemisphere. We go primitive camping often in the north woods of Wisconsin. Honda and Yamaha are top of the line, flip a coin,, it comes down to the spec's ie. weight, dimensions, gas tank, fuel shut off etc. to which one you will choose. Nothing is as quiet the Honda or Yamaha, Honda 3000isu is the lowest dba. The Champion 2000 & 3000 are the best in their range, but remember its hard to find a local dealer for repairs and parts. If your not doing 60 percent of your camping in the primitive,,, you'll be alright with Champion. PS the 2400 Yamaha will not run my 15000 btu, it did run the 13500 but I don't need a/c around Lake Superior.

I think you would be right.

I have compared noise levels of my Champion to my friends Honda side by side. If you did not know the specific sound of each, you would not be able to tell which one was running based on noise level.

I bought a Champion 4000/3500 three years ago from Camping World on sale for $319 and have had no trouble with it. Cranks on the first or second pull and runs everything I need in the TT [Aviator Wright Flyer]. May not be the quietest unit on the market but at their now price of $425, you can buy a FLEET of Champions for the price of one equal rated Honda unit. Keep the oil changed and Sea Foam in the fuel and you should have no problem. ALL companies produce a "bad unit" now and then, but don't hold that against the entire product line.

I had a look at the manual, it does gives a db rating at 3 meters not 7 meters like most others do.

Every website that I have visited that are selling Honda 2000's give a rating of 53db at 7 meters. That is what I was going by.

Oh well, learned something new today.

My guess is--a little louder.

I also have the Champ 3100. It had some major issues right out of the box, took some carting it around to the local Champ warranty service center and finally shipping it back to the factory, but it appears to be fixed now. Won't know how it performs until I start using it this spring.
