Yes, that's the one. My uncle used to rewind (much larger) motors. I know from that, that soft starting is so much better for them. Plus not toting a generator for 400% inrush just seems nice.

I'm probably the odd one. No biggy.

Oh, Black Friday ad shows a $350 delta between the big and small predators. The enclosed microair is about $300, but they have a pcb only one for like $220 or something like that. In theory slightly cheaper. Ha ha.

I am able to run my ac with one generator and I don't have the SPP6. It really doesn't even bog down too much, which surprised me. So am I being too hard on my generator? If you are able to run what you need without the SPP6 is that okay or are you needlessly maxxing the generator out and does that even matter?!?

I put the SPP6 on our 13.5 k unit and I could tell the difference both on shore power and running on the Champion 4000/3500 watt generator. For the money it’s well worth it. The best thing would be a true “ soft start”. Because I knew that I would have enough generator, I just went with the SPP6. I would estimate that the inrush of current was cut by 25-40 percent, judging by the sound. Jay

I suppose I should figure out how powerful the AC is, huh? We just purchased our 1st TT and still new to it. Had it a whole month and have only taken it out twice (if you count the trip to pick it up)!

Just saw this on Newegg. I have about 6 hours to convince my spousal equivalent that it's a good buy. We have 4 3500 watt generators so she's trying to tell me that we just stick one of those in the back of the truck and use it instead.

How did you get the app? When I search App Store all I get is some paid third party app.

So I am getting two. The parallel kit harbor freight sells says that it is also compatible for linking Honda’s. Only problem is it’s only rated for up to 4000 watts as stated above. I’m assuming the parallel kit for the eu6000 should work perfect on the predator 3500 but would leave me with 6000w as opposed to 7000z
Alternatively could I just buy another brand set up for linking two 3500 watt generators and just swap the bananas?
The Powerhorse 3500 is almost identical to the predators but the plugs aren’t insulated/coated.

Just go to the HF web site on your iphone.
You can find all the coupons there.

I did this for a couple years before the app came out.
They can scan them right off your phone.
The app just conveniently places them all in one spot.

Also... the Android HF coupon app is third party.
I suspect the iphone one to be the same.

I need some generator help...

I've got two HF Predator 3500's with the Champion Parallel Kit but my rig is only displaying 30 Amp Service. I've checked each generator individually and I get 30 Amp Service from each. What am I doing wrong here?

TIA!!!

Even when parralled it might only give 30 amps. Does it's specs say it will do 50amps in parallel?

My bet is your rig looks for 220 v to show 50 amp which hear generators can’t do.

The Champion Parallel Kit is a 50-Amp RV ready kit. It's supposed to provide 50 amps of output. I've got the rig connected to the 50-Amp plug on the parallel kit so... What am I missing?

I guess that my next step is to test the actual output of the 50-Amp plug, on the parallel kit, with a voltmeter to see if I have two legs of power.

Shouldn’t it really be providing 100 amps?

Bruce

I am talking out my butt.. But you are using a champion parralled kit with a hf predator geni... Is the champion kit even compatible with the predator? Or it might give 50 amps with a champion but that does not necessarily mean that the same is true for another brand.

Thanks Doc73! I'm thinking that you may have a point about the compatibility of the Champion kit with the Predator gens. I'm still looking into it. HF is supposed to be coming out with a 50-Amp RV parallel kit soon so I may just have to deal with 30 amps for a bit.
