I put timbrens on my old ram 1500 to get rid of the squat. worked well. look at the Anderson ultimate for your hitch if you have a short bed truck.

Congrats on the new camper. to get off the towing payload topic, I hope your rig shows up when promised, last spring there was much topic about lead times being extended.

I had Timbrens on a F-150.
They worked well.

The B&W Companion that connects via the gooseneck ball won’t allow you to use the turning pin box (Reese Revolution) as its intended. You’d have to lock it out and have it rotate at the pin/hitch connection like a conventional pin box. I opted to go with the B&W Patriot 18K that mounts on convention rails.

If you have the OEM pucks in your truck bed, then you can get a Companion hitch that will work with that and be able to take advantage of the Revolution pin box.

I didn't say anything about the hitch, but I towed with a Curt slider before I got the Andersen Ultimate II and I have a few observations.
1) It was extremely heavy. Even taken apart it was more than I wanted to handle, so I never removed it from the truck bed, thereby rendering the truck bed mostly unusable.
2) Even with the Ram short bed, I never slid it. Never had need to, so that was wasted capability.
3) I got the Andersen for the weight and it didn't disappoint. It's so light and easy to remove from the truck bed that I remove it whenever I'm not towing. And it's light enough to hang up on a couple wall hooks.

To sum it up, I would never go back to a conventional hitch.

I have the gooseneck ball setup.

I've had both rail and gooseneck and to me the ball connection is a lot easier to make and remove. Also the added bonus is that with the ball itself removed the truck bed is perfectly flat. Not that the standard rails are a big deal they just provide a hangup when loading some flat into the bed, like a piece of thin plywood.

I also prefer the passive Timbrens to airbags. They did the job for the rear end squat.

Enjoy the Rockwood!

We have a 2017 8299. We have 15 or so trips, probably 12,000 miles. TV is a GMC 2500 diesel, shortbed. Reese 18000 lb hitch. Love the turning radius with the Revolution pin box. Firestone airbags. Probably not required but do find some rural roads can get you in a wave like action that is not pleasant.

Replaced the tires over Christmas with Goodyears. Seems to ride much better. Get the camera setup. Big help on the road.

Enjoy!

Congratulations!! We picked up a 2898KS last November and love it. Unfortunately, we haven’t had a chance to take her on her maiden voyage yet.

Nice

If the quality is as good on the rockwwod 5er as it is on the bumper pulls, you will have a great rig. I know our small 1809s has been trouble free, zero warranty issues since new in 2015. Our 5er on the other hand, not so lucky but it's a different brand. Love that layout, I need to go look at 1 myself now, time to trade both of our RV's in for one now we don't travel as much as we used to, that looks like the perfect size rig.
You may be pushing your Rams limits stock, maybe air bags would be a good investment along with a tuner and a cold air intake system, I tried towing a 33 ft bumper pull before we bought our 5er with a 1500 and while it was able to do the job, it was not a fun time, mileage was terrible, 4 to 5 mph, even with the updates I just mentioned, we bought a 3500 and never looked back. Better to have to much truck than not 3nough.

Yes sir .... we like it and can't wait for it to get here. The Timbrens are here and will go on next week, we will be at max on payload with careful loading. Towing we will be about 1000lbs below max, will need to hit the scales when we get up and going. Tires will be next upgrade for truck and 5th and I am going to look into a camera, I think I will go with the B&W Patriot 18K and use the custom wedge from E-Trailer. Thanks Frank
