New to a Class C how to LEVEL it???

I just picked up my 2015 Forester Motorhome, so excited. I need help in understanding the auto leveling, example being it is parked in my driveway which is sloped down towards the road, I tried to level it, and it wants to lift the front off the ground. Do I need to drive my front tires onto to blocks of wood then level or put the wood under the levels?? What does one do when trying to level on slopes, I would think that I need to keep my rear on the ground since the emergency brake will be engaged with the chocks. Please help

As long as the rear wheels are chocked front and back and emergency brake is on, why the concern if the front tires are off the ground? Should make any difference.

I guess you have tried pulling the coach in opposed to backing it in as the rear end may set up higher than the front.

Just me, but I try everything possible not to have any wheels off ground ( when wheels are off ground that ram is almost if not fully extended ,unless you have put blocks under it) ( at least on my 3051)

If you haven't done it yet the first thing to do is reset the system to level. the procedure to do this is in your manual if you have no manual go to the big foot web site and down load it. I always try to get close to level by driving up on boards and like to have 2 - 4 inches of boards under each leveler. I have had front wheels off the ground and other than looking odd I don't see any problem with it.

x2 the rear of my coach was higher, I always tried to use that as advantage. I always carried enough blocks to get 4" on at least 2 corners. hyd levelers are great. chock well if you lift wheels, bent rams suck...

I have just the opposite problem in my driveway. What I do is let the wheels come off the ground in the rear then I block them under the tire. Then I hit auto level again. And then the full rams are not carrying all the weight. the axle is. Even though the ram is rated at 7000 lbs. each, I do not like keeping that much pressure on the system for long periods. It also wouldn't hurt to put a 2x6 under the ram foot. Remember that these rams are not very well coated, so the less you expose the better off you are. I have spayed mine with silicone every month to stop any rusting or pitting. If they were made like a backhoe ram I wouldn't care. But that is just me, in a couple of years I probably won't care.. Good Luck no matter which way you choose.....But you just have to love the system, should have done it years ago....
