New to RV

I just bought a new, to me, 2010 Sierra 355QBQ 5th wheel, and love it. Everything works great.. but.. the monitor guage, for the holding tanks and battery, does not work. (well I think it doesn't) When I push any of the buttons, only the bottom red lights comes on, just for a second. I know the holding tank are empty, but if I am pluged in w/ shore power, shouldn't the battery guage say Full??

What should I check first?

Do you continue to hold the button? The holding tanks should read empty, the battery should have all lights on only if it is full charged.

Welcome and congrats on the new 5r.

Gauges are notorious for not being acurate, especially the black tank which gets lots of stuff sticking to the sensor. However, this would not be the case with the battery readout. If you know your shore power is working, suggest leave it plugged in long enough to ensure what should be a good charge and re-check your monitor gauge as it should read full.

If not, come back and see if anyone else has posted their suggestions on this forum.

Good luck... I hope you have many years of enjoyment!

Yes, and the light goes off. I know the battery not 'dead' b/c when I unplu the shore power, I can still use the lights and the jacks. A dealer here said I might have a bad ground wire on the monitor???

If you're plugged into shore power the battery should show full charge. Mine does anyway.

It has been hooked up w/ shore power for about 2 weeks, so the battery should be fully charged. Right?

It should. Sounds like an issue with the monitor panel since it shows an issue with the tanks and the battery. You are holding the button for a few seconds correct?

You check the battery charge with a voltmeter. If you don't have one you can take the battery to a car parts store and they can check it, but I really think it's a problem with the monitor panel.
