New trailer brought home

Well the DW and I picked up our new Flagstaff Microlite 23lb.
It has been a very long day. The gentleman that did our "walkthru" was very nice but not really knowledgable about the trailer. We did get through it but I will be doing plenty of reading to fill in the gaps.

Thank goodness the members here are available when the questions come up.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Congratulations on the new trailer. Our dealer was very knowledgable about the camper, but we were both tired and overwhelmed and had trouble remembering everything.

Between this forum and a couple of others and reading the manuals, we have been able to camp successfully a few times and looking forward to a many more adventures.

Happy trails to you!

Thanks all,

Here is the only picture we have so far. This was taken right after we brought her home.

Congatulations on the new trailer and welcome to the forum.

I am also towing with a Pathfinder, although my 2503S is about 1k# more than the 23LB.

Even though I'm near its limits I am finding that the Pathfinder is a great TV. At highway speeds fuel consumption is not great but on secondary roads, which I prefer anyway, it does much better and I can cruise along at the same speed as everyone else. (Also, I'm in Canada and we just don't have that many superhighways!)

From your photo it looks like you're using door mounted mirrors, not mirror extensions. I have extensions but the Pathy is not really wide enough to get a good view and I have to fix that.
How are yours working out?
Are you getting a clear view of what's coming in the lanes beside you?
Are the door mounts causing any damage?

I am worried about damaging the window or the window's seals where they hang on. If yours are working out I appreciate if you could tell me what brand / model they are.

Thanks in advance and enjoy your trailer!

Fred,

The Pathfinder tows the trailer just fine on flat ground. I have not had it in mountains yet. I am thinking that it will be a little sluggish but will get the job done.

I am estimating my final weight at around 4700 which will keep me within 80% of the towing capacity.
I am also using a Hensley Cub hitch which helps alot since the Pathfinder is a short wheelbased vehicle.

The mirrors are KcKesh mirrors. I have only used them a couple of times and they work great. There is plenty of view, I also have the covex add ons and they really help alot.

I too worry about damaging the door. The window seals will be fine, I am concerned more with denting and or scratching the door. I do make sure to clean off any dirt where the pad touchs the paint. I have not seen any sign of damage yet but like I said, I have only used them a couple of times. I guess time will tell.

We are looking forward to spending many nights out enjoying nature.
