Silly question. Does anyone here hook the 2000 straight to the batteries for the quick charge or do you all just connect it to the 30 amp plug and deal with the inevitable "power loss"? Trying to get more quiet time by turning of genny sooner.

I bought the Yamaha 2400ISHC for our twice a year Boondockin at the track...I have been pretty happy with it as it does start the A/C but the run time is a bit less than the Hondas. Also You cant add an external Gas Tank Like the Hondas. A fellow Camper at the track last week had a single Honda and external tank 10 Gallons or so...ran that thing from the time I arrived on Friday afternoon until they left Sunday night. Wouldnt know it though....Got to love the Inverter Gen's Make life a lot nicer at night and at tightly packed campgrounds. I like the color blue so good choice.

The 30 amp plug works and we do that most of the time. That way DW has access to 110V if she wants it. But if the battery is lower than I would like and time is short, I hook a Schumacher Ship 'n Shore Smart Charger to it. I have found that this is the quickest and most efficient way to recharge the battery.

I do NOT use the Honda direct 12V charger. It is slow and "not smart".

second only to using the tow vehicle as a charger, as the worst way to recharge a battery.
as was said, slower and unregulated, compared to the converter or a separate battery charger.

The Yamahas are also able to do this. Its my understanding that the Yamahas and Hondas are about even in every aspect. I liked the fact that the Yamaha has a fuel gauge (Honda does not) and it also has a fuel shutoff petcock so you can shut the fuel off an run the carb dry for storage so fuel does not go bad in the carb (not sure if the Honda has this feature but I thought I read that it does not). fuel consumption and quietness should be real close on both. The Yamaha's engine design supposedly lends itself to longer life than any other genny on the market (claimed).
Both are great options. I'm of the impression that if you own a Honda you'll be a believer in Honda and if you own a Yamaha you'll be a believer in Yamaha.

Welp.....I guess The Yamaha being on order is no longer the case. I have been checking my order status on Wise Sales for the past week and its simply said "on hold" since then. I finally called them today to find out what was going on. They told me they do not have any in stock and have been out of stock on Yamaha generators since May (with Yamaha giving them the runaround on a time frame for them to stock them it sounds like?) I asked "So you guys have been out of stock since May?" customer service: "Yes"
Awesome. This would be very useful information for your consumers Wisesales! Instead of taking orders and leaving people in the dark, how about you put a little info on the site...or AT LEAST notify people when they place their order.
I'm glad I didn't wait too long to call! I have a hunting trip coming up in November and having a generator is paramount in the cold weather we will be enduring. I guess I now either call around to see if anyone actually has the Yamaha genny in stock...or go with the Honda. Either way I'm not sure I want to use Wisesales for the Honda after that whole debacle. Any other suggestions?

I was very close to ordering from them and get a honda. Suddenly the price went up due to the hurricane. Anyways, I did read about them having this type of business practice. Make sure you call them and ask if they have in stock with the honda.
Did they charge your credit card?

Yes my card was charged. Thats another thing that pissed me off! They knew they were out of stock long term yet still charged my card ASAP!
I found yamahagenerators.com and just put an order in for the 2000 watt Yamaha through them. They said they had them in stock and it would get shipped today! Plus they beat Wise Sale's Yamaha price by $10.
If you aren't stuck on getting the Honda I strongly recommend Yamaha Generators | www.yamahagenerators.com. I visited their website then called to make sure they were in stock and I placed my order over the phone. I recommend calling them if thats what you do. Never know how much they will have in stock with this storm hitting.

FYI I see Wise Sales conveniently raised their Honda 2000 price to $999 now that the storm has hit.
yamahagenerators.com has the Yamaha 2000 for sale right now for $940. It doesn't say that on their site but I signed up with my email and they emailed me a price list. And thats the price they gave me over the phone without me even asking.

No. I got it for $940 with the email discount. I was just comparing the $10 cheaper in comparison to what Wise Sales was selling the same generator for which was $950

As an update: I ordered my Yamaha 2000 from yamahagenerators.com on the 1st of November. I got it at my door yesterday 11/5. Not bad taking into consideration the weekend.
Got the Yami all oiled and fueled up and fired it up. Hooked it up to the trailer and tested it out. Love it so far! Definitely a quality unit.

I tried starting my 3500 btu ac unit with nothing else on and the eco throttle off on the Yami 2000 and it overloaded. But that was expected. It runs everything else great!
