We will be doing a dry run on our first overnight.
We are in Baltimore and it is 31 right now and dropping so things are still winterized.
We will use the heater and an electric blanket, etc.

We're gonna stay at our Yacht Club on Middle River, just so we can test run some systems the best we can before we take our long trip south end of Jan. into Feb. 2015.

Have a Great Time.

Happy New Year!

Kerrville texas and cold!! 28 degrees. First freezing night in camper for us. Hoping we keep our water by dripping the faucet. A night in the rv is always good though😄

Well that is great glad to see people out and about, Your starting out on a good note for 2015 "CAMPING". Linda and I wish everyone on the forum a great new year, This just might be the long coming of campers if gas stays low in 2015, and that is what they are saying. Have a "HAPPY and safe NEW YEAR"

We'd planned to leave right after Christmas, but an illness is delaying us. "Henri" is sitting in the driveway, waiting to be loaded, but it's hard to think about hauling things out of the house when the temperature is below zero ... well below zero! Even 20 degrees above zero would feel warm now! But we have faith ... warmer weather will happen.

What do you do to keep things from freezing in the much below freezing temperatures? Is your camper an Arctic package? Special heaters anywhere? I assume you don't stay hooked up to campground water supply. Tank heaters?

Just wondering what you do? I'm collecting info for cold weather camping without a trailer being setup for that. No arctic package.

Depends on how long camping. Short trip fill FW tank and plenty of propane. Drain water hose when not using.

Long stays is more costly. Underpinning of some kind (foil wrap or foam boards) with stakes in the ground and true duct tape like for heating and air ducts.

Hard pipe the sewer line. Heated water hose with FW filled to be safe and leave water trickling to help.

Space heaters are very important just have to make sure not to overload the circuit.

My trailer is not an arctic package. I have one space heater to assist the propane furnace. Fully winterized, have a 5 gal. Igloo water cooler for fresh water, and a wash tub in the sinks to prevent the water down the drain. If I Need Hot water to do dishes, boIL it on the stove. It's the way my family has winter camped for 20+ yrs.

I wouldn't fill FW tank. You will want some room for expansion if the water does freeze.

We took our "maiden voyage" and our honeymoon to Kerrville TX last week. We got married on Saturday, picked up our Flagstaff 26RLWS on Monday, and headed to Guadalupe River RV Park. We did our first set-up in the dark and all went relatively well. We learned the limits of two 30# propane bottles in near freezing temps for 3 days and the value of down-filled blankets.

All-in-all, it went very well and have trips planned for Jan, Feb, Mar, and April....so far. Not bad for a couple of newbies!!

Congrats to the happy couple, and we have all learned that you can never have enough blankets. Just got a new electric blanket from the gf for Christmas.
