New York City

Had stayed at cherry hill which is an awesome place to glamp as my wife calls it and visited Washington DC.
Is there anyplace like this that is convenient to New York city where you drive and get on the subway or maybe a bus line daily into the city.
Or a state park that's an hour or so away that can accommodate a 42ft fifth wheel. That we could then drive close to the city and get on a bus or subway

You might want to look up Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City NJ. Has access to NYC ferry service.

Liberty Harbor RV Park

I stayed here a week in early June when my daughter had surgery in NYC. This RV park is really just a place to park your RV. There are water/electric hookup sites but I ended up in the dry camping area which was a marina overflow boat storage area. Very dumpy looking area back in the dry camping area.

BUT the good part is it is only a 5 block walk up to Grove St Path Subway station into the city. There is also the ferry in the city.

Do Googlemaps to see layout of RV park and overflow area.

We stayed at Black Bear Campground near Florida NY.

They offer guided tours of Manhattan which was the main reason we stayed there. There's a train into the city nearby too.
